Texas Tech BSN wannabe

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Brand new to this board and hoping for some advice on the traditional BSN program at Texas Tech I'm applying to Texas Tech for Fall, 2011 traditional BSN and don't know anything about the program except the information on the school's website. It would be wonderful to hear an honest assessment from someone in (or who has graduated from) the program. I guess this is probably the biggest decision I've had to make in my life and, in some ways, I feel clueless about how to assess the pros and cons of the program. I would appreciate (beyond words!) anyone who has attended the traditional BSN program offering their opinions about the school, the community, the clinicals, the faculty, the lifestyle or anything you might think would help a 20 year old wannabe BSN/RN to make a better decision. Thank you and, when it's my turn, I promise I'll "Pass It Forward".

Do you know how many people usually apply to the odessa area for this program? i would like to apply but i wont have chem, intro or patho. I will be enrolled in all of them in the spring. Whats the chances of getting accepted to this program?

Hi,

Congratulations for getting into the Nursing Program. I wanted to ask you a few questions if you dont mind. I'll be applying to the BSN traditional in December for next fall, and I wanted to know how has been the program so far, do you like it? how are the instructors? I bet it is challeging, but I wanted to hear from someone that is already there.

I appreciate your time.

Marina

Marina,

I'm currently in the nursing program as a junior, and i'm just finishing up the fall semester. It has been great so far! The simlife center is SO helpful, and all the instructors are more than happy to help you in any way. It is definitely a BIG change from previous college courses. You must be very disciplined and take time out of each day to read/study the material. I'm so glad I chose this school. I cant imagine going anywhere else. I feel as if I've gained more knowledge about nursing within the past 3 months than I've ever obtained in my 2 year college career. I hope you choose to apply. It is an amazing school!

At this time, raiderlink only shows 30 available spots open for the odessa campus. I'm a lubbock student so I'm not quite sure what your chances are. However, the advisors last spring said 500+ students applied, which includes all locations (lbk being the largest: 140.) I would definitely contact your advisors and find out what your chances are.

Does anybody have any info about El Paso acceptance statistics? GPA? Percent admitted? TEAS? etc. I have about a 3.7, haven't taken TEAS V yet, I have my CNA, volunteer experience, published research, and diverse medical experience. I just hope I can get in :/

Hey I'm applying to the Tech nursing program for Fall 2013!! Could y'all tell me about it and how the program and instructors are?? I'm excited and can't wait to get this process started
