Texas Tech-Accelerated BSN Spring 2020

I haven't seen a thread for those of us applying May 1st to the January 2020 cohort. I'm wondering how heavily they weigh the TEAS. Also, I have heard as long as you meet all criteria they typically give you an interview. Has anyone else heard this? I really like how they take a holistic approach to grant admissions. I'm wanting to apply to UTA but I feel like the main way you get extra points is by attending school there which I did not do! We'll see!

In the email Cindy sent, it mentioned the Raider Connect application. Is that just for traditional applicants?

Is it too much to ask for an acceptance email today?!

Hang in there you guys! I’d be super surprised if you didn’t hear something by the end of this week/next week. Try to distract yourself as much as possible and keep an eye on that email!

I know now it feels like an eternity, it will all be over soon!

I was thinking this last night! Why can't we just know now??

Just sitting here refreshing my email every 5 minutes...I'm gonna go crazy if we don't find out soon! I feel like we have to find out this week!

Any of you also applying anywhere else? I am also waiting to hear from UTA. I should know by Friday.

I also applied to TAMU and we don't find out until the end of October

Last year they found out right after labor day. I hope we hear something soon!

I applied to Texas A&M as well - definitely trying not to think about it srushtx because of their longer timeline for making an admission decision. Hoping Tech lets us know this week but I fear it may not be until the end of next week...

I applied to the Austin cohort. I was asked if I would consider the San Antonio cohort as well. I was told get my answer to Cindy by Sept 4 as they are meeting the day after to start the decision process.

Btw any other Austin cohort peeps asked to consider SA? Prof Goodman, who asked me, got me in touch w a current student who lives in Buda and is part of the SA cohort. He was reluctant at first, but he said it turned out for the better. He hinted that Prof Goodman is more invested in ensuring the students' success more so than the other coordinators in other cities, eg Austin.

Hey @atxmitch, I applied to Austin as my first choice and SA as my second. I live in the Sunset Valley/Oak Hill area of Austin so it would definitely be easier to be in the Austin cohort. Haven't heard anything from Tech other than the general emails to all applicants - maybe they reached out to you because you didn't submit a second choice? Also, you're saying they won't meet until 9/5 to start the decision process?

Yes, I only had a first choice (Austin). I live next to ACC's SAC, but in 2 months will be moving 2.5 mi away from CEC.

The current student I spoke to said in his class SA had less applicants and Austin is more competitive (fyi during the interview they said Dallas was this year), so they are just trying to balance and get in as many students in was his thoughts. YMMV

And yes to 9/5... at least for Austin/SA cohort decision making.
