UT AE-MSN 2018

U.S.A. Texas

Hello, all!

This might be super early but I wanted to go ahead and start a 2018 thread. :cat:

I'm currently finishing up my last semester for my Bachelors degree in Spanish & Psychology at UT Arlington, I take the GRE on December 22nd. Any other future applicants out there? Or anyone have any advice as far as the application process? Not sure if I'd rather apply for LeaDs or PMHNP yet.

Yeah agreed! It looks like no one is talking or they are just extremely busy lol. I applied to the PMHNP specialty. I already have a Master in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I currently live in Columbus, OH where I have an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) licensure. Let the anxiety begin to see if we get interviews.

Good luck to everyone that applied!

Hey guys, I am jumping in on this thread as well! I am currently a UT Austin graduate student and my concentration is in autism and developmental disabilities. I applied to the PMHNP program as well and I am so excited for this process to move along! I wish everybody the best of luck!

Just to update ya'll. I just received an email saying that due to the amount of applicants to the PMHNP program , I am not going to be considered for the program but I can still be considered for LeaDS. So I am guessing if you have not received this email or do not receive it within the next week or so, you are still being considered for the PMHNP track!

I sadly received the same email. Are you planning on doing the LeaDS track?

I am! It is still a great opportunity. You are still coming out with a higher pay grade and position than a nurse with a Bachelor's. The LeaDS program is 2.5 years, that is still an amazing amount of time to receive a master's in nursing. Some people spend that much time receiving just an associate degree in nursing. Also we are all most likely coming in with a Bachelor's degree in another field, never forget how rare this program is!

Also once you graduate you have the opportunity to do a post-master's into ANY nurse practitioner program. That usually only takes a year to a year and a half. UT Health in Houston has a great post-master's program. I think it is still worth it and a great opportunity!

I agree with you. I'm still going to apply for the LeaDS as well. I think because my background was already in psych that I had my heart set on it. But maybe this will open up my mind and show me that I will like other speciality's than just Psych.

Thanks for that reply! Your perspective definitely helped.

Good luck favourduku and daniels - the LeaDS program is a great opportunity and UT has an outstanding reputation for this program. I haven't heard anything yet about the CNS application - hopefully that's a good sign. Best of luck!

I created an account just for this thread! I did not realize they had so few seats available, it made me physically nauseous when I found out lol. I also applied to vanderbilt, columbia, boston, and will apply to MGH, SU, and OHSU. Really want to make this happen this year! I'm glad to hear about the LeaDS program so there is at least some option if I don't get into any :) I was reading a few threads from last year, and if you take the LeaDS it removes you fro the PMHNP waitlist, and some people defer their admission one year to see if they can get into psych the next.

I haven't gotten an email yet... my GRE was so low I got really nervous and ended up in the 50% quantitative. But tried to highlight that I have a physiology and pre-med degree so science is my strength :(

I wonder if they will be sending out the emails each Monday then?

Hey! Glad to see people are starting to post. I applied to LeaDs. Just want to join the conversation. My everyday routine is turning into checking My Status then All Nurses haha hopefully we'll start to hear about interviews.

Specializes in Cardiology.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Hey all, so glad to find this thread!

I too applied for the PMHNP track but have not heard anything besides the initial email from Tracy. And my online application still just says "under review".

Hey y'all, so glad I found this thread... it may help alleviate some anxiety... or worsen it lol I'm also applying to the PMHNP program, currently working as a personal MA to a Psychiatrist here in ATX, have also worked w/ PMHNP's, CNS, NP's in her practice. Sorry to hear about those who received the email about not enough spots being available. Has anyone heard anything from Tracy? I have not received anything besides the initial email and my status is marked as "in review"... It's way pass the "review" period the timeline Tracy emailed out. Has anyone else heard otherwise?
