Tarrant County College Acceptance Letters

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I have officially turned into a basket case. Since I have found out that people got their letters around April 17th last year and that orientation is scheduled for May 4th this year, I have become obsessed with the mail like everybody else. Today, I kept peeking out the window and eyeing the mail box like a hawk until I had to leave to go to class. Of course, the mailman was late today (because he knows that I'm waiting on that letter). Then I called my husband right before class and right after class, even though I knew he was busy, and tormented him until he went out to check the mail. I was so disappointed that I didn't hear anything today. I was sure that I would get a letter from TCC in the mail. Oh well! I guess I will repeat the process tomorrow! What a let down!

well i got my letter as well and i did not get in. i just don't understand . i know there cant be that many people applying to the fast track program because it is so new.... my gpa was a 3.5 every & class was done... the only thing was that damn entrance test....... i think i'm done with this crap. ive been trying now for 13 years i think that is enough bs for one life time...

txspadequeen, I'm really sorry that you didn't get in. Please don't lose hope if this is something that you really want. Did you apply to any other programs in the area? Maybe you would have an easier time getting in at a different school. Maybe you can look at one with a different entrance test. Anyway, I can only imagine how frustrated you are. I'm really sorry. {HUUUUUGGGGGG}

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

Congrats to those of you that made it in!!

txspadequeen -- I'm so sorry. I know how you feel -- I applied with a 4.0 and was denied to my school. Luckily, I got in off the wait list. Does it mention a wait list, and if so, where are you on it? If it doesn't mention the list, does it mention the cutoff GPA? Is your weighted GPA a 3.5, or your straight GPA?

Do you have As in AP I, English, Math and general Psych? If so, you could apply to El Centro. They have an entrance test, but they don't use it for ranking.

*hugs*

i was looking on the el centro site and it says they take late applications. does anyone know about this ??? however, i only have b's in my sciences and i am in algebra now and i hope i can make it out with a c.. all my other classes i have a a in... no mention of the wait list... it sucks cause ive been trying for so long and i'm a good nurse i know i would make a good rn.. i'm heartbroken and just beside myself.....

do you think i should ask for a appointment with the nursing counselor to find out exactly why i did not get in....

congrats to those of you that made it in!!

I can't give you any information about El Centro, but I just wanted to tell you not to give up hope even though you are discouraged. If El Centro says that they take late applications, you should definitely go ahead and apply, no matter what your grades are. Also, I think it is really important for you to sit down with a counselor to see why you didn't get in. Ask them for suggestions to help you get in next time. Ask about your grades, your scores on the TEAS, etc. Write down everything they say and work on as much of it as you can if you have to wait another semester.

If you have to wait one more semester, maybe you can take a few classes towards your BSN. I really wanted to start the program in January, but I still needed to finish Chemistry last fall, so I couldn't get in for January. However, since Chemistry was the only prereq I needed for TCC, I wasn't sure what to do about school this semester. I finally decided to take Statistics, Nutrition, and Algebra because these are classes that will apply towards my BSN which I definitely want to pursue later. I also knew that I didn't want to try to take Statistics and Algebra later when I'm trying to work and go to school because I'm not great at math. Now, I'm glad that I had to wait a semster, even though it seemed like a long time to wait.

Try to use this time to improve grades, TEAS, etc. and to maybe take classes that will apply towards your BSN. However, I really hope you can find a program that takes late applications. You sound like a wonderful nurse. Maybe there are other schools that also take late admits. I wish I knew more info about other schools to give you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Good luck to you. Let us know what El Centro says.

i know you wanted to get into a local brick and mortar school but what about excelsior? i know it's expensive but at least it's a route to help make your dreams come true. i am seriously considering their lvn-adn route and then taking texas tech's rn-bsn route. it's all online with the exception of clinicals and with a baby on the way it can't get any better than that. just a thought since i know you have children. :)

i'm going to apply to el centro if they are taking late apps. i have a aas degree and all my bsn stuff done . i am going to twu starting in the fall if i don't get in el centro to complete my bachelors in general studies so there i will have another avenue - the accelerated program..if i don't hurry and get in somewhere all my sciences will expire..

i have thought about it . i have all my classes finished for it, but my husband has doubts about it. he says he knows me and i wont be happy with that type of thing...i guess i should not really give a *^ since he has no clue what he is talking about, but i just wanted him to be supportive.. he does not know it but i have been studying for ec1 . my plan was to while working on my bgs bachelor in general studies. i have a aas already) at twu and getting fa, taking that extra money and paying for my degree at ec.. i was looking at the university of el paso and they have a 3 semester program all online for the rn to bsn. i have had my baby but that does not change the fact that i have 6 kids, so any school is hard anyway...

Congrats to all who made it and for those who didn't Dont give up... hey... does anyone have any advice to give...... I'm in APII, I will be taking Micro in the fall... I'm not doing too great in AP... Im at TCC with Johnson (the vet)... I just feel like pulling out all my hair... Who should I enroll with for Micro?? Thanks so much!!

D

Hi! I know A&P is hard. Just think, though. You will be done in a few weeks. I remember how happy I was when I finished that class. It was so time consuming. I'm not sure which campus you are at, but you should try to take Micro with Matthai at the Northeast campus if you can. I go to the Southeast campus, but I took Micro and Chemistry over at the Northeast campus. I'm really glad that I did. Are you taking it over the summer? I took it during a summer session, and I believe that Matthai is teaching it this summer as well. You might look into it. Good luck with it! I personally liked it better than A&P and thought that it was easier.
