Tarrant County College Acceptance Letters

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I have officially turned into a basket case. Since I have found out that people got their letters around April 17th last year and that orientation is scheduled for May 4th this year, I have become obsessed with the mail like everybody else. Today, I kept peeking out the window and eyeing the mail box like a hawk until I had to leave to go to class. Of course, the mailman was late today (because he knows that I'm waiting on that letter). Then I called my husband right before class and right after class, even though I knew he was busy, and tormented him until he went out to check the mail. I was so disappointed that I didn't hear anything today. I was sure that I would get a letter from TCC in the mail. Oh well! I guess I will repeat the process tomorrow! What a let down!

I am also taking Algebra right now. I was taking it last semester and decided to drop. I never had to take Algebra when I was working on my BA. I was able to take a different type of math, but that was a long time ago. Now it seems like most degrees want you to have Algebra, so I decided to take it while waiting to get into nursing school just in case I need it later when going from RN to BSN. This has really been a struggle for me because I am horrible at Algebra. I'm taking it with Mrs. White over at the Southeast campus, though, and feel like I couldn't have made a better choice for a teacher. She's really great. Her tests are just like her reviews, so if you can do the review, you should be able to pass the test. She also lets you use a notecard on the test and you can write whatever you can fit onto that card. She also gives partial credit if you miss something. I have a B right now, and I'm glad to get it considering that I have never been able to pass Algebra.

I have an A in Statistics, and it has been easy compared to Algebra. Don't get me wrong. It is hard, but it just seems so much easier to understand than Algebra. Anyway, good luck with it if you take it.

A quick note about online A&P for those of you who might be considering it and please realize that this was just my own experience and may or may not represent the feelings of other students who took the class. While it was a fairly easy A if you were willing to put a little time into it, it was pretty easy to determine the "testing pattern" and end up not really learning a darn thing but instead just memorizing answers to questions. When I had to take Pathophysiology in nursing school last semester, I really had a very tough time with it because I knew little to nothing about A&P despite having gotten As in both I and II courtesy of the online classes. Just a thought for what it's worth......

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

lol, I took both Statistics and Algebra online and thought stats was the harder class. Oh well, I guess we're all different! :)

Oh yeah, it is very important to LEARN the stuff in A&P. If I didn't just come out of it, I'd prolly be having a very hard time right now. I wish I had taken a medical terminology class, because not knowing that kind of stuff is killing me.

i took stats online from tcc, and got an a in it. it was tough though, because the course was not well organized.
