i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

How many days do you get to stay on ICU,Katey, does everyone in 4th semester gets to do ICU? That must be so interesting. Our instructor will let us observe one day in the ER and ICU this semester.

I had my telephone interview with Charlton methodist for the externposition today, phew..........

They sure ask a lot of questions, I thought it will never end . I will have face to face interviews with the managers of L&D and postpartum next week. Wish me luck, I know they don't have as many position as they had in the summer. So I sure hope I will get one.

Those who had preceptorships worked on one floor this semester. They were on medsurg floors or in ICUs.

My clinical instructor lets us rotate. Everyone gets some days on medsurg, tele, ICU, ER. We may get a chance to spend a day in L&D and postpartum, too. My instructor is flexible and lets us do our stuff. :lol2:

I was told that ours (THR) was separate? When did you hear this? Honestly... I'm not even sure if I want to go!

"ok, here's the deal.....el centro/north lake is having a combined pinning ceremony! i have confirmed this with the sna president this afternoon. (if anyone knows students from thr and methodist's program please pass this information on....they are included too!)"

Congratulations Katie!!! I spent the day today in a Birthing Center. It was awesome, even if I didn't get to see any actual births. But, she said if I would get CPR training for neonatal resuscitation that I could work as a birth assistant. She also managed to get me hooked up with an L&D nurse (who is also a CNM) who offered to be a preceptor for me! It was such a productive day!! Now I can't wait until 4th semester.

That is so exciting!!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got to be in the ER today, and will again tomorrow. I really do like the ER! :nurse: (...Then again, I like OR/pre-op/PACU too, but I haven't been able to do any clinical in those.) :(

I like L&D too...and, ....and.....and..... LOL
