Hello!
I was recently accepted into Texas Lutheran University's Fall '25 Direct Entry MSN program (NB Campus).
Are there any applicants on here who have been accepted for the Fall '25 start date? I would love to meet fellow applicants!
or
If there are any current or recent students that wouldn't mind sharing their experiences, pros/cons, scheduling, etc. as well that would be greatly appreciated.
Hopefully I can meet fellow future students on here 🙂
Thanks!

You sure about the background check/blue card? I didn't get any email or notification or anything on castlebranch about it. So, don't even know how to proceed from here, Advisor said to wait for instructions via email before doing it, and not to do it earlier.I am virtually looking at apartments online, and I've made a list of them so far that's within 5-15 minutes of campus so that I can stop by and see them in person.
I have seen the uniforms flyer, but have not ordered anything yet. My advisor told me to wait until orientation before doing anything. But I've selected some stuff on Amazon that's sitting in my cart, but I'll double check the flyer in case I missed anything. Thank you for reminding me!
Yeah, I'm waiting for that shot to come out ASAP so I can knock that out of the way.
If your advisor said wait then go with what they said, but I just know for me, I had started this whole process back in Sep/October of last year so I did have a little more time, but I'm also a single mom so I REALLY had to make sure I had my stuff in order way ahead of time. See about sending out your Amazon list to friends and family, that's who helped me with my school supplies. I say put everything you think you'll want/need even if it seems minor or stupid because they will buy it. Do you have all of your immunizations complete?

Okay, I'll keep following what my advisor said just to be on the safe side. That's good that you're well prepared and have everything squared away! You'll surely be less stressed than I am trying to get everything done so quick, haha. I didn't consider making a list and sending it out to friends and family to see if anyone could help. Should I finalize my apartment first and get an address to get all the shipping straight to it or do you think its just best to go ahead and make one now to send out and have them sent to my current home? And yeah, saving money and getting donations/gifts anywhere will definitely help. I have all but flu shot done! They said I had to wait until 2025-2026 shot came out so it stays valid for the school year.
Any other tips for housing, amenities I should look for, good price range, etc.? Any opinions or tips I will gladly take to help shape my decision! Thanks a bunch for being a resource for me as well, can't wait to meet you.

No problem. When I originally made my list it had my old address, but the days leading up to my move, I went on Amazon and changed the shipping address so it automatically went to my new place. As far as apartments, DO NOT SETTLE. I say this because I know you're on a time crunch, but nursing school is about to be one of the most stressful times of your life, and where you lay your head each night matters. If you can help it, stay on the 3rd floor so you are not hearing other above you. I personally recommend, "Tacara at Gruene", I absolutely loved this place (I do not live here) but I came across them after I signed my lease LOL so I was pretty sad. 10/10 recommend them. Price, distance from campus, amenities, and size is all great! Look into signing a 6 month lease just to be sure you are 100% loving where you live (learned that the hard way). Back to your Amazon list, I say go ahead, make it and send it out so people have enough time to help out. Be very intentional about the things you are putting on there because at the end of the day, you are the only person having to use those items. Same things with your apartment.

Okay, I'll try to create a list of main necessities first then add on small things throughout the year, and see what I can get now and then move the address once I get my apartment.
THAT'S MY BIGGEST WORRY. That I'll be bamboozled into an agreement/contract just to have a place. But I'm doing thorough research on location/distance/amenities/utilities/monthly cost, etc. So I'll try to make sure I have my bargaining hat on and not settle, and bring backup. I so agree on that point about making sure to have restful sleep each time, so that's also a key factor. I learned from other friends to not get first floor for that main reason of disturbances and bugs, and if I can make the trek to go 2nd or 3rd, or if they have an elevator even higher just for sense of peace and quiet.
I will look into that place! I don't think I have it on my list. I also didn't even consider doing short leases. I was under the impression I had to do a whole year, or program's worth, so thank you for mentioning that.
Yes, back to the list, main thing would be school supplies that I might need throughout the year, or even help with some of the medical supplies we need, or other things that will help with the apartment space or cover some food snacks. I'll keep all these tips in mind when making my list and looking at that apartment complex. Thank you!!
If you come across any more that randomly pop up in your head, send them my way!

If you have TikTok go on there any type in "nursing school supply haul", just to get an idea of what majority of people get, and then decide what you think you'll use. That's how I ended up making my list.

Ooh, perfect. Will do. Thank you.
I also looked into Tacara and looks like they don't have A/C or an in unit washer-dryer combo based on their listings and fees and amenities list. Those are some things that I need but I'll keep Tacara in my pocket if other locations aren't up to par with it.
Appreciate your advice, thank you!

A lot of apartment complexes currently have Summer move in specials going on where the rent may be cheaper or you can get the first 4-6 weeks free so look into that as well, but most importantly just remember that you want to LOVE where you live. That will be your place of rest and recharging, you won't be in school 24/7 so you also want to enjoy the things around you. As for price range, shoot for $13-1400, there are places that are WAY MORE expensive and not offering much. When you get out here to visit them, drive all around and really decide on your commute.

That's strange..... maybe it was the specific unit I looked at.

Here my cheap butt was thinking 1300-1400 is so expensive and could I afford it even with loans ;-; . but noted that as well. You are reminding me to slow down and focus on finding a place like that, whereas I kept looking for the bare necessities of survival there. You are right though, I should open and look at a few more places even if its a little outside my budget and see if it'll fit what I'll need. Definitely will tour them in person before selecting.
Maybe I misinterpreted their website listings and their amenities page/fees page, because it didn't list W/D or A/C on it, nor did the searches say they offer it. But in the picture, there's a space for it! Wish I had that unit you saw 😞
saw a place all the way in Kyle, TX that was like $900 and had EVERYTHING. Only con was it's 27 miles from campus so its a half hour drive. 😞

Hey, so aside from apartments, I went and ordered my scrub tops from the store on the flyer and for 3 tips it was $121 total. I plan on getting my pants elsewhere and for the shoes, I went to the mall in San Antonio and I had already decided I either wanted Brooks, Hokas, or On Clouds and after trying on so many (all in all black as required) I went with On Clouds 10/10 recommend!!!

oh wow!! Thank you for letting me know. I've heard those are good options as well as the New Balances. I'll try those when I stop by the mall. I love how prepared you are, and here's me still catching up and my advisor telling me to wait till orientation haha 😞

It's OK LOL it really depends on each individual situation. I know for me, I literally can't afford to not have what I need before I actually need it.
