What is the salary for lpn/lvn in texas?

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

In which part of Texas were you researching? I am asking, because the pay rates in far West Texas are a hell of a lot lower than the pay rates in Dallas or Houston. Austin's LVN pay and job outlook is different than that of San Antonio, and so forth. In other words, your question should read: What is the average salary for LVNs in ________(insert town's name), Texas?

I earn $19 hourly at a nursing home in Fort Worth. In my area, LVNs are typically paid between $18 and $22 for LTC, and $13 to $16 for hospitals and clinics. Agency pays between $23 and $28 hourly.

Specializes in Dialysis.

Hey Commuter, you always have the best info! have you always been in LTC? Where did you go to school? My question, when you refer to an "agency nurse", what does that mean? are these people temps who go where the need is?

I've done LTC, psychiatric nursing, and rehab. I attended school in the Los Angeles area (I'm not a native Texan, and people constantly remind me by asking me where I came from). Yes, agency nurses are hired by temp agencies to fill staffing needs at different healthcare facilities.
