Texas Children's Summer 2020

Published

I wanted to start this for students/first year nurses who are applying at Texas Children's for the summer 2020 cohort, the application should open end of February/March. If anyone has insight to the firm timeline, good contacts, unit specific knowledge, this would be a good place do talk about it!

I got an email from *******, they said they weren’t moving forward with my application

I am so sorry to hear that. It sounds so corny but I really wish we would all just be able to get our dream jobs. You’re gonna end up where you are meant to be, go get the next one!

All of God's plan. I got rejection letters from other hospitals after my second interview but everything happens for a reason and you will be placed exactly where you are supposed to be.

Also, this virus may have limited the opening available.

I am so sorry to hear that keep your head high up, God has a better plan for you. I will keep you in my prayers and I know this is just a stepping stone for your amazing life as a wonderful nurse.

For everyone who has waited to hear back from interviews - I just talked to Laura and she said there is no hiring freeze, they are still waiting on all units to finish interviewing / make decisions. She said the process might take longer because they are trying to figure out how orientation and stuff will work and her only concern is students being able to take the NCLEX since testing centers have closed till April, but that the residency directors will of course be accommodating seeing as everyone is in the same boat. Made me feel better!

If anyone hears back please share!

I got a rejection on Friday, but I now I have an interview for TMC ER.!

Congratulations on your interview, God is Good let’s praise him for this amazing opportunity. The interview I had was about 7 behavioral questions. I don’t remember them all but I think some asked about how you used something you learned in school at the hospital setting, how do you handled a difficult situation. I think I saw more detailed questions on another Thread for Tx children’s. I hope this helps Good luck prayers sent your way.

I recommend looking into their values and culture and emphasize team work, if you have any experience with clinical there or volunteering mention that a lot. thats what was recommended to me! ? its a lot of behavioral / scenario questions. They like Star format

Has anyone heard anything from PICU or NICU? ? good luck to everyone!!

I know someone who works there and they told me that they are still making decisions... But, I specifically remember the manager who interviewed me saying that the earliest we would hear back is last week of March/first week of April. Good Luck everyone!
