Members are discussing the impact of job offers being rescinded or put on hold in high acuity units like PACU, PICU, and NICU due to the current situation. Some users have not received any communication, while others have been reassured that their job is safe. There is uncertainty about the status of nurse residency programs and concerns about future opportunities if current cohorts are full.
When does the application cycle start? I can not seem to find it on the website.
Thanks in advance!

I've called, no one answers. Word around the hospital is that not all units were affected and there is no official word on some units. So far from what I've seen here, all the high acuity units that are higher in pay have been affected (PICU, NICU, CVICU, and PACU). But I haven't seen anyone confirm lower acuity areas, and like you see above, others have not received calls as well. IDK what's going on for certain, but I'm choosing to remain positive for the time being. I'm still sending out other residency applications though.

I just sent an email to my onboarding specialist, hopefully I hear back tomorrow. I have a friend that already works on my unit and she said that our unit is already understaffed as it is so hopefully they don't cut our residents. I've also only heard of this happening to those higher acuity units and she told me that they were already overstaffed.

Same thing I heard, and I know the PICU and CVICU took on A LOT of people for the Spring/Winter cohort so it makes sense that they'd be fully staffed. Also, the unit I completed my capstone on and got hired on was superrr understaffed while I was there in October-November, so it wouldn't make sense for them to not bring in new people. please update here if you find anything out.

Rescinded the offer. She made it sound like that's that and no hope for when freeze is over but hoping that's wrong.
