Texas A&M HSC-Any grads or current/prospective students?

Published

Hi Everyone, I wanted to post and see if any of you are grads or hopefuls of the Texas A&M program at college station, the Health Science Center? I am currently a student at LoneStar college and I've been looking into the associates program to transfer over to the the bachelors, but after doing the figures I can do the prereqs and the bachelors program in the same amount of time. So I wanted to know if anyone has any information or reviews about the health center branch of A&M in College Station? I wasn't even aware that they had a program for nursing other than the one in Prairie View. I am also interested in UT, but I think A&M is actually going to be a closer commute. Any advice out there on getting in? So far I have a 4.0 gpa, but I have about another 3 semesters of prereqs to get done, so I'm hoping to keep my gpa in the same ballpark. Thanks so much for your time.

Sonseria ;)

This whole process makes no sense to me. I am sure there is a method to their madness, but I wish I understood it. Does anyone know of someone who was actually accepted and not wait listed?

one of my former interns was accepted to college station. she got her letter on oct 23rd.

:crying2:I did not get in to A&M . But i did get into my first choice UT:clpty:

Aww that really stinks! But you got in to an awesome program! I am proud for you! Did Tamu send you that student data sheet and then send you the letter saying you didn't get in? That's mean on their part!

Thank you. yeah they did, oh well. It doesn't really matter. I love that I got into UT:heartbeat.

Congrats for getting into UT, that is great! I can't believe they gave everyone a student data sheet, that doesn't make much sense. Anyone else hear anything today?

I got my rejection letter today too. There was a section in the letter telling me to do rapid review for some other programs, but I am still need to hear something from UT-Houston and TAMU CC before I start that process.

Anyone know some one who has gone through the accelerated UT Houston program?

While my son was admitted at Texas Childrens, I met a student nurse who was in the UT accelerated program and she seemed a little tired but that is to be expected any program you go into will be stressful. Its a good program though

Hey Everyone,

I recieved my waitlist letter as well about Saturday of last week...I just don't understand. I have a 3.6 Science GPA, 3.4 Overall GPA and 88% on my Hesi. I have been accepted to the 2yr program at TWU right in Houston which I heard from other students that it is a wonderful program. I recieved my bachelors of arts degree in Biology with a Chemistry and Spanish Minor. Does anyone seem to be in my same boat?[/quote

Hi hnphan,

Do you think we will hear something soon about the waitlist? I am getting anxious and I wonder how many people are on it. If you get into A&M, are you going to give up your spot at TWU?

Has anyone else heard anything new lately? The waitlist deadline on my bamf changed to Nov. 11th. Does anyone know someone who was just offered a spot on the waitlist or accepted?

Hi Mrsaggie,

I'm not sure what I would do. Right now, I have an opportunity to interview at UHV for the one year track...I've heard good things about UHV and excellent things about TWU. TWU has a pretty high pass rate and UHV just started its program but the students who are attending there really enjoys the program. I'm a little concerned about the thoughts of the students of this program. So, I'm not sure whats going to happen yet. We will will see! Good luck!! I will keep you posted!

Hey MrsAggie:

I actually applied for the UTA Academic Partnership program to get the last few nursing pre-reqs done, and so far I can not complain other than my adviser is not the best. I have not applied for the clinical part yet, as I have 2 of those nursing pre-reqs to do.

I am seriously hoping I got in to TAMHSC, but now I am starting to really doubt myself. I did really well on the HESI with a 89.6 but my GPA is just 3.0 and change. My science courses are all A's and a few B's, but I am starting to think it wont be enough.

I contacted Texas A&M CC about that E-line program and it is very similar to UTA's except the clinicals are at the Med here in town! So that is something to think about since you're local. If I don't get in here at the HSC, I think I will apply to that too.

If anyone gets news today, be sure to post!

Hi Brandig07,

I see you got into Houston! Congrats, that is wonderful! I just wanted to tell you thank you for bringing eLine program to my attention last year. I have been accepted and start in May. I may never of looked into it if you had not suggested it! It is a wonderful program and fits my lifestyle. Once again, thank you! Good luck with school!

Thanks,

mrsaggie
