Hi Everyone, I wanted to post and see if any of you are grads or hopefuls of the Texas A&M program at college station, the Health Science Center? I am currently a student at LoneStar college and I've been looking into the associates program to transfer over to the the bachelors, but after doing the figures I can do the prereqs and the bachelors program in the same amount of time. So I wanted to know if anyone has any information or reviews about the health center branch of A&M in College Station? I wasn't even aware that they had a program for nursing other than the one in Prairie View. I am also interested in UT, but I think A&M is actually going to be a closer commute. Any advice out there on getting in? So far I have a 4.0 gpa, but I have about another 3 semesters of prereqs to get done, so I'm hoping to keep my gpa in the same ballpark. Thanks so much for your time.

I was lucky enough to get accepted into Texas A&M HSC CON, CS. I can tell you that it is not the easiest thing I have ever done. I just finished the summer semester which consisted of three classes and next semester I will be taking pathophysiology, pharmacology, informatics and fundamentals.
I have to say that I love it though. I have great profs. Everyone out there is extremely helpful. My class is the second class for the program in CS. Basically, they took the profs from the CC A&M. So the program has been around for a while, just not in CS.
I can tell you that it is very competitive. I, like you, had a 4.0 going into the program. I would have to say that, for the most part, they will not accept anyone with less that a 3.4. If I were you I would come by and visit with the faculty.
It is not cheap either. A laptop and a PDA are required. You will also have to take a HESI A2 test to get in.
A positive, you get to go to the A&M football games and use the REC.
If you want anymore details let me know and I will speak with the assisting Dean and get back to you. You can also go to the website. http://nursing.tamhsc.edu/index.html

jetvirus- you said that you're able to go to the football games, are you able to sit in the student section, too?
Yes. You get all of the things that A&M students get (Rec, sports, transportation, etc...). The only thing is a different ring...but there are people working on that.

Hello everyone!
So I have a question about the A&M accelerated nursing program. If anyone who is thinking about applying for it/or in it currently - I would appreciate your help in this. So I am about to graduate from Texas A&M with a bachelors in Psychology, I have now decided that I want to apply for nursing school, and I would really like to get into an accelerated program. My question is, my overall GPA when I graduate will be a 3.389, do I still have a chance of getting accepted into the program with that GPA?

I've applied for the Fall 2010 Generic Program. Anyone know how many people applied?
I talked with the admissions advisor and they don't have any stats. They say A&M CS is not as competitive as other schools in Texas.
Did anyone get an email regarding fingerprinting?

yeah i got an email on thursday about it. you have to make an appointment or something to go get fingerprinted so that they can do a background check? haha it's weird..
I know. I went Saturday and they said it would take 7-10 weeks for A&M to get the results. I would hope they would make a decision before that.
