:uhoh21: I graduated from the VN nursing program in May and I have my test date for July 31st. I have so many questions.... is NCLEX harder than school tests? How long did you study before you tested? Are the NCLEX questions similiar to the ones in the NCLEX practice books? HELP ME!!!
Any info would be helpful!
Thanks, Shannon

HELP !! I just graduated from PN school and have my NCLEX scheduled for next tuesday...I took the ATI before finishing school and It gave me a 97% chance of passing on the 1st attempt....but I'm not sure I want to trust that....I have been online doing NCLEX 3500 and also I purchased a book "Exam Cram" with all questions by Pearson Education....ANY other suggestions!!!

1. There is no way to tell you if the NCLEX is harder than school tests because every school is different. It doesn't matter either way, you will probably think the NCLEX questions are harder. It is normal to freak out, and feel that you failed after the test. Remember that people who both pass and fail only get 50% of the questions right... but those who pass get 50% of the questions right that require a higher level of critical thinking. And remember how bad you have to do on a test to get a 50%???
2. I started studying 2 months ahead of time, a few times a week. But really got into it about 2 1/2 weeks beforehand. You can't put a certain amount of time to study that is considered "okay", it is different for everyone.
Try to relax, I know it is hard. Just believe in yourself. KNOW KNOW KNOW infection control!!!!!!!!!!! That is the one thing I would strongly advise. You got through nursing school, you can do this!

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I graduated from my RN program on May 7th. The ATI also gave me a 97% chance of passing on the first try. I take my boards on the 5th of August. I was studying a little right after graduation, but I really ramped it up this whole last month. I've been working through the Saunders CD, watching the ATI videos, and even listening to an NCLEX review on my iPod. I'm feeling more prepared every day, but the queasiness will not go away.
Gauze's is right: You got through nursing school, you can do this! We can do this! Good luck and congratulations.
Thank you.......I know I have put the time in studying....I guess your right...If I made it through nursing school..."Anything's possible".

1. I thought my school tests were harder because it got more down into the nitty gritty,.. but then you also have to factor in that that was the first time that I was tested on that material. so by the time you get to the NCLEX you're not like "what does TURP stand for again?" I was VERY NERVOUS,.. and I'm never nervous during tests,.. but when I look back,.. I still think the questions were more general than my school test (SUNY Binghamton)
2. 3 weeks
3. Alot of my questions were about "who would you help first?" so you had to recognize the disease/disorder/complication/normal, but unpleasant experience that the pt. was going through and then decide who is most urgent. so it was general in the sense that I wasn't lookin at lab values and blood gasses but I did have to know my disorders and complications forwards and backwards.
good luck!
oh wait... you're taking it today,.. lol... so i guess that wont help
How'd it go?
p.s. .......The Pearson Vue "Trick" WORKS !!!!! I tried it and so have 4 of my classmates so far...
