Job Interview confusion
This happened to me as well. I went for the interview, and they said I would be put on a "waiting list"... and HR said that they might not be hiring for at least 3 months. 2 weeks later I got a phone call asking to come back for a second interview. Long story short, I got my dream job. Go for the interview, you never know what could happen! And good luck!!! :)

Testing for NCLEX next week.
1. There is no way to tell you if the NCLEX is harder than school tests because every school is different. It doesn't matter either way, you will probably think the NCLEX questions are harder. It is normal to freak out, and feel that you failed after the test. Remember that people who both pass and fail only get 50% of the questions right... but those who pass get 50% of the questions right that require a higher level of critical thinking. And remember how bad you have to do on a test to get a 50%??? 2. I started studying 2 months ahead of time, a few times a week. But really got into it about 2 1/2 weeks beforehand. You can't put a certain amount of time to study that is considered "okay", it is different for everyone. Try to relax, I know it is hard. Just believe in yourself. KNOW KNOW KNOW infection control!!!!!!!!!!! That is the one thing I would strongly advise. You got through nursing school, you can do this!

Heck, I've Applied EVERYWHERE man...
5 interviews? Wow. I am sure you will hear from at least one of them, give it a little more time. That's awesome that you were able to get so many interviews! I like your positive attitude. Don't give up, you will get something!

Preparing for RN job search
You are most likely going to be asked: Why do you want to be a nurse? (most definitely) Why do you want to work on this unit/hospital? (most definitely) How do you handle conflict? What are you strengths and weaknesses? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What was your favorite/least favorite course in nursing school? Tell how about a time you took initiative. You may be asked specific pt situations as well: A time you hurt/made an error with a pt. When you bent the rules for a pt and/or family When you saw a staff member doing something wrong/illegal in the workplace and what you did about it. How will you cope with terminally ill pts and their families? Describe how you prepared to see a pt for the first time - a specific situation. (Just remember to add a positive statement from anything negative... ex: if you made an error, what you learned from it) Questions you may ask: Pt-nurse ratio? What qualities are you looking for in a (insert unit here) nurse? What is the biggest problem faced by this unit? Do nurses float to other units? Will I have one preceptor or different ones? How long is orientation? Will I be able to extend it if I feel that I am not ready? How do you assess the performance of nurses? Should I get any certifications (ACLS, PALS) before starting? Personally, I was only asked the first 2 questions on this list for my job, but it is always better to be prepared! Remember to shake your interviewer's hand, keep eye contact during the interview, and to smile ... Good luck!

Heck, I've Applied EVERYWHERE man...
I feel ya. I live in Florida and am trying to move back to New York, posting a resume with a Florida address is even worse!!! Hospitals can't be on hiring freezes forever... good things come to those who wait, right? Hang in there.

BIG question about relocating right after graduation...
If I were you I would go for TX... from what I have read on here, it sounds like the job market isn't bad there. If you really want something, you gotta take risks. Just study your butt off to make sure that you don't fail the NCLEX so you won't have any problems! You might think that taking the boards for TN may be the safe route to go, but I believe that if you really want something then go for it! You may regret it later, if you don't try then you'll always sit there wondering "What if?" Hope that helps a little.

Just preparing for the NCLEX is killin me!!
I did Kaplan too, and I know how you feel. The best advice I can tell you is to keep doing questions, after a while it started to click for me and I started scoring better. But, even if that doesn't happen for you, I thought that Kaplan was harder than the NCLEX and definitely prepared me for the test (passed in 75). A few of the same topics were covered on the NCLEX that were frequently coverec in Kaplan's questions. I know it's hard and frustrating, but you just gotta keep chugging along... it probably seems like time is going so slow by now but before you know it, it will be all over! Good luck!

First Job Interview.....Stressed
Go through your experiences in clinical, really think back... I'm sure you've got something! Think of a time when you bent the rules for a patient, when you made an error (and what you learned from it)... if you ever talk about something negative, ALWAYS end it with something positive that you learned from the experience. Good luck!

Testing July 8th. New Kaplan Scores. Hope its enough!
I got a few meds that I had never seen before, but every disease process mentioned on my test I was familiar with. I think it's not a big deal if you see a med you don't know, there are so many out there. You just have to make your best educated guess! Good luck!

Testing July 8th. New Kaplan Scores. Hope its enough!
Yeah, I think you are fine! My scores were similar, a little on the lower side at the end. I just took it today, and I thought that Kaplan prepares you for the types of questions that you will see. I got 75 questions and according to the Pearson Vue trick I should be okay =) I'm sure you will be fine.

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
I got alot of pt teaching as well! I'm glad to see someone else did. I feel like nobody mentions it when they talk about the test, so I wasn't sure what level question it is considered to be. I thought the test was 1/2 easy and 1/2 hard as well. Honestly, from what people post on this site, I thought it was going to be ALOT harder! Just took it this morning but it won't go to the credit card page... =) Congrats to all who have passed. I have never felt this awful/nervous in my life before taking the test!

Taking nclex for 2nd time. Need your help!
I know everyone has been saying this, but make note cards or something for the kinds of infection control (contact, droplet, airborne). I had a few questions on the test dealing with this and it was a piece of cake!

How long for listing on BON website?
For me it took a little more than 24 hours after they got my form II, shouldn't be long at all!
