  1. Wow, Thanks Gauze for all the possible interview questions.
  2. Does anyone have any advice or information to pass along when searching for a new grad position? I graduate in December and started calling the HR contacts today who passed along their cards when I was working my clinicals in their hospitals. I wanted to remind them of who I was! I am also starting a new grad resume (but...not sure what to put in it-this is a second career for me). Is they anything else I can do. I am located in Los Angeles, I know there are still new grads finding jobs, but they are hiring fewer new grads. How many hospitals should I apply for and what jobs outside of hospitals can I apply for? What are some interview questions that I may be asked? What questions should I ask? Any information, advice or what some of you have experienced would be helpful. Thank you.
  3. I am currently on a waiting list for an RN program in the Los Angeles Area. The earliest I will be accepted is Spring 2007 and ther latest is Fall 2007, when my name comes up I have the option of deferring for 1 semester. My question is... Instead of wasting a year, I am considering taking out a loan and entering a reputable vocational school to either get my LVN in one year and then entering the RN program as an advanced applicant when my name comes up on the waiting list, OR entering the same vocational school and earn a certification as a surgical technician before I enter the RN program. I have an appointment with the RN program head to see if they will accept any of the surgical tech classes toward my RN. I have a BA in English Literature from UCLA, but want to continue school after my RN to get a BSN and then a MSN to become a Nurse Anesthetist or Practitioner. I am leaning toward the surgical tech path for a couple of reasons: I can get part time work while attending school and it pays more than an LVN AND I will have some work experience as a surgical tech before entering an RN program and 2 years experience after I get an RN. Any advice on what is the better career path and why?? Is my thinking on track? Thank you
