Testing for LPN while in school for RN ??

Published

I am going to be graduating in Dec2006 with my ADN from an RN program.

I've heard that you can test for LVN/LPN license while in the later part of an RN program. Does anyone know if this is true?? I will be very appreciative of your replys:)

Ah - so you are talking about private duty actually - In home health you see lots of different patients all day. Thats what we call it in Texas, maybe it's different where you are.

Yep! Its private duty!:) See around here they call it home health in general, and with most HH agencies you can do private duty or visits. Im in Peds HH and u can work in a group home where u get 2-3 patients or u can do private duty in the homes. I like the idea of visits too bc if u only have to do one thing like a dressing change, etc, u can see many patients over the day and the rate per hour would be high since its per patient...I guess the downside is gas prices!

The program that I am in allows the student to test for LPN while continuing on to the RN program. I am a Texas resident going to school in New Mexico (the NM border is closer than the closest nursing school in Texas). In the college that I go to, all of the RN pre-req classes are required before you can even get into the LPN program. That way, the student can either move on to RN level without going back to general pre reqs, or stop at LPN.
