Wishing you the best on NCLEX! Knock'em Out!
I made my first attempt on Sept. 3, and I had the max....205 questions. I failed and I was wondering where should I start? I have been really down since obtaining my quick results.....Don't know where to start. I took the ATI on line course as well. Many of my classmates passed the first time just by reading Saunders and doing the Cd enclosed as well. I thought about purchasing Kaplain but very expensive.....can you tell me if their course was beneficial....two thumbs up or two thumbs down?
Is there some truth to having to wait a total of 45 to 90 days before you are allowed to retest?
Yes, you do have to wait 45 days. But it all depends on your state board of nursing. In texas it is 45days. To me ATI was good for nursing school. Alot of the questions are on the recognition level. Kaplan's questions are more like NCLEX. The Kaplan book has some great strategies that help u answer questions. The Saunders book has good content with assessments and interventions. Whatever I didnt know, i just look it up on saunders. If u want i'll sell u my kaplan book with CD and the trainer program. It has like 8 tests (2x75question, 2x100, 150, 200 and 265 question tests) I'll let u know if I pass this saturday. I plan on doing the PVT trick that same night.
smith1 and dirrtyxris, good luck on your retest. I have not taken my test yet d-day is tomorrow for me. I don't know if ya'll are familiar with lacharity but alot of people say that it was a lifesaver for them and the infection control mneumonic. So if ya'll don't have those they may be helpful.
I can personally say that before I purchased lacharity I was doing terrible on the priority and sata questions. Afterwards I did better. The book helped me to put things in a better perspective than what I was doing before. I still get sata questions wrong at times but more right than wrong now.
i thought of you today! haha, sounds weird, but it was almost a comfort to know that someone was going through the EXACT same thing that i was today!! i hope your test went great!
i got all 265 questions...walked out crying...
according to the PVT though i am getting the "good" pop up. my fingers are crossed.

My first attempt was in July of this year (2010). I failed. Ever since I took my exit exam from NS in April I did not open up a single book. For two weeks I half-assed some questions from ATI but to me, ATI is no where near NCLEX level questions. And I say that now that I have peeped into the NCLEX test.
This time, I have finished the Kaplan NCLEX-RN 2010-2011 edition. Finished the book practice test, the cd practice test and I am currently doing the Trainer CD. I have been getting 63-67% consistently. From what I have seen is that anything above a 65% means u have a good understanding of critical thinking and can fare well on the NCLEX.
My strategy this time:
This time Im doing alot of practice tests from Kaplan and a couple from Saunders (not as much). The Saunders book as great content, so what I did was write things i knew i needed refreshing on and went back to the Saunders book which explains it well and copied notes to read on time off from practice testing.
Wish me luck. 9/11 is close and yes that is the number for emergency. Because to me, it is. God bless you all, and for those repeaters, you are not alone. We must keep trying to succeed.
