TERRIFIED of applying!

Hey everyone! I just found this site and think it's great! I am currently at a community college and I am getting ready to apply for the ADN program for fall. But I am absolutely TERRIFIED!!! I am so afraid of getting rejected! Does anyone ever not get into a community college program? I've been at this college for 3 semesters now and the grades are good (All A's and B's with a 3.5 GPA) I was also really good in high school (graduated top of the class with 4.0), aced my ACT (composite of 32), and I went to a tech school for MA 2 years ago and graduated (well got a certificate) with a 4.0 on the president's list. The thing that bugs me is my first year of college. First semester I had an ovarian cyst rupture and had to have emergency surgery because it hemmoraged. Well after the surgery I was out for 3 weeks and it just got me so far behind (I was at a big university where all the classes had like 300 people) So I ended up with a B, C, dropping a class and failing my biology. Well now I've retaken (and aced!) biology and the class I got a C in. Does this erase the "bad" history? Then next semester I transfered back home and registered late at a local CC (different from the current one I'm attending) and all I got was 3 dance classes and statistics. I started having health problems again so I decided to drop everything and take a semester off. After all the only class that would even count was statistics. Well now I officially dropped, got the paperwork and my money back. Now 2 years later I go to get a transcript and it shows me FAILING the entire semester! :angryfire I have done countless phone calls and emails but can't seem to get anyone to help me. Now I took the statistics this past semester and the dance classes really aren't worth jack but it really bugs me that my transcript is wrong and has all this on it! Now back to my original question, what are my chances of getting in with a 3.5 at this school? It's a CC and they have 150 slots (but it is a big city but also has at least 3 CC with ADN programs and countless BSN programs). On my application all it really askes is name, address, program you want, and if you have any professional liscences and employment history. So does this mean they look at GPA alone? On the web site it says GPA and ACT and having your pre-reqs are the qualifications. Sorry for so many questions but my schools nursing program people never return phone calls or emails! Thanks for listening to my ramble! I am just really getting anxiety attacks over this! Any comments appreciated!

The community colleges here in Arizona dont turn you down for grades when applying. You just have to have a C or better in the classes that are considered to be PRE requesites. I dont know what state your in but thats how it is here.

Sounds like you have had a rough couple of years! Im so sorry! I hope your feeling better now!

I guess you won't know what will happen until you apply. Applying for a school isn't much different than applying for a job. You want to make yourself look good. If I didn't need the classes in transfer from the school that failed me for a semester, I wouldn't even mention it on my application. There are people who post here that will tell you that is wrong, and some who will tell you that they got caught doing that. How? I don't know because there's no way they can check out your educational background that I know of, and why would they anyway? I take that back, they may be able to find out about a school if you got any kind of student assistance while you attended there. I routinely never mention my one semester at a certain college--ever. And, it's never come up.

I think it's worse if you don't apply and wonder "what if" for the rest of your life. It is natural to be terrified of rejection. Give it your best and good luck.

Just apply and pray; and wait to see what happens.

You should also apply to different schools in the area. Dont put your eggs in one basket.
