Nurse extern/summer job in Nashville/Clarksville, TN

U.S.A. Tennessee

I am a first semester senior in nursing school at Austin Peay University and graduate this December. I am looking for a summer job or nurse externship position for this summer and PRN for the fall. So far I've heard of St. Thomas/Baptist nurse extern program and Care Partner program at Northcrest. Ideally I'd love to get a job at Gateway Hospital since I live so close but am open to anything. Do any of you have any advice or other places to try?

Specializes in Critical Care, ED, Cath lab, CTPAC,Trauma.

Thread moved to Tennessee nursing for best response

Vanderbilt has one called VESNIP. But I think you have to go to a certain school or something. Get into contact with someone at Gateway. I hear they are really good at hiring New Grads and that can get you into the system. Have you looked into working for the military hospital near Fort Cambell. I forgot what it was called. Also Ive seen quite a few job postings on the usajobs.gov website in fort campbell.

On another point.

How do you like APSU? I have applied to the RODP program there and I havent been able to get much info about it. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Thanks!!

Yes VESNIP is only open to certain schools including mine, but unfortunately I didn't get in. Yes I'm doing my preceptorship at Gateway and would love to get a job here after graduating in Dec.

I'll definitely look at Blanchfield at Ft. Campbell as well.

I love APSU...great program and teachers. Know alot of people going through the RODP program and have heard nothing but positive things.

Great. I start this summer!
