Hello all. I’ve been a nurse for over 2 years, have about 1.5 years of experience at the bedside and 8 months of experience in substance abuse. I’m currently at the bedside and am getting burned out. I have an interview for a telehealth position. I am wondering what everyone’s experience is doing telehealth? This is for a company where you assist the bedside nurse virtually. I’ve heard telehealth can be demanding, but is it less demanding than the bedside? I’m looking for a change and something not quite as demanding as the bedside. TIA!

I've never heard of this kind of position. Its amazing how many avenues nursing can take.
I think only someone who works at the company you're applying to can accurately answer your question. Work environments and requirements vary.
Some places have policies where you must be on the phone throughout the shift and call times are tracked. Bathroom breaks and lunches are scheduled by an algorithm.
Then there are others that treat people like intelligent humans and don't micromanage as long as metrics are met. I hope this is how your new job will be after you ace that interview.

Thanks I hope so too! I’ll definitely be asking questions about it tomorrow during my interview!

How did it go? Are you a telehealth nurse now? Wondering about switching to telehealth too, from nursing home bedside.
At the time of my interview they actually never called me and I had to email them which was a huge red flag for me, so I decided to not interview with the company. I instead ended up landing a job as a utilization review nurse. I work from home now M-F. Best job I could’ve landed. I love it.
Oh nice! Do we need a certificate or something, before applying for a telehealth nurse?
Not that I know of.
Sorry I have a lot if questions. Because I'm seriously considering telehealth. Then does the job have to be within the state? I'm thinking if a telehealth job comes up in another state, I'm only licensed in IL. Also, what would a typical day be, is there time to pickup kids from school and go back to work when coming back home?
I think it depends on the company you get the job with as far as if it has to be in your state or picking up your kids. Like I said I ended up with a job in utilization review, not telehealth. I would also seriously consider if you’re okay with the phone time and dealing with potentially rude people all day before getting a job with phone time. My job in utilization has very little phone time and I’m SO grateful now I didn’t pursue telehealth.
Oh got it. I was thinking utilization review was the same as telehealth. Thanks so much for your input!
