if your clinical instructor allows you to wear a t shirt under your top and your top is a little big, you should do it. i sometimes wear a shirt under my scrub top for warmth, but if i feel that my top is going to be gaping open i wear one for modesty. a girl i work with was doing a procedure on a pt, i was standing at the head of the bed and the pt and myself were able to see right down her top.
I always wore a men's white undershirt with my school scrubs. I noticed that you could see the outline of everyone's bra and I didn't want that to happen to me. Granted I wear a sport bra with my scrubs but just the thought skeeved me out.
At work I wear an undershirt, I like having something fitted under the lose scrub top. If it's hot I'll wear a fitted men's tank top (AKA "wifebeater") under my scrub top.
I wear fitted tees or tank-tops under my scrub tops. If you wear something fitted, you probably won't need to change your top size.
I'm a bit "busty" and I'd feel like I were naked and exposed if I weren't wearing something under my scrub top. Like cursenurse, I've seen girls' whole front-sides while they were bending over.. and I soo don't want to be that one!
Being male I wear a t-shirt as I have a fairly hairy chest. As a couple posters mentioned white scrubs are pretty see through. From my clinical we were not allowed to wear scrubs so to speak, the tops had to be button down shirts or polos. Pants had to be white slack pants of some type. For the women if their bra could be seen through the top material they had to wear a white t-shirt and guys if hairy and visable had to wear one as well. We were also informed to make appropriate choices for underwear as in white they tend to be seen quite easily.
Rj:rolleyes:
hi carrie...i agree with many that have replied to your post. i always wear a fitted tank under my scrub tops. i am rather short in stature and the v-necks (that most tops have) tend to dip a bit lower on my very short torso. wearing a tank eliminates the worry that i might move the wrong way and give someone a sneak peak :chuckle good luck with your clinicals

Hey,
This is a bit of an odd question...
Do you usually wear a t-shirt under your scrub top? (I know you probably do during the winter, but what about during fairly warm/hot weather? I guess the temperature in the hospital remains fairly constant...or does it?
I'm wondering because I'm in the middle of purchasing scrubs for clinicals and I'm not sure what size to get. The small is too big, but the x-small may not be ideal to put a t-shirt under. (They're cheap so I could get the x-small and move to the small during the winter but I was wondering what you're thoughts were).
Thanks! :)
