I'm studying for the TEAS, which I plan on taking late this year. Yeah, that's a while out, but I'm paranoid about it lol. My understanding is that on the TEAS V, you weren't allowed a calculator, so I just wanted to let other folks out there who may be taking the TEAS this year (or in later years) that according to my ATI TEAS Study Manual, for the TEAS VI, we get a four function calculator that's provided by the testing center on the test.
Personally I'm incredibly relieved about this, as my mental math has been shaky for a while now.
I know this could potentially impact someone's decision about when to take the TEAS (the sixth version comes out on August 31, 2016) so wanted to get the word out there.
Does anyone know what type of calculator is used on the TEAS 6? Is it the basic one that is on the computer or is it different. If its the basic computer one (can do square roots, negative numbers) this will free me up to practice some of the more in-depth stuff I need more practice with vs working on reinforcing something I already know and can easily double check on test day.

Basic calculator on computer
It's a four function calculator! If you haven't taken test yet....my advice is to skip the math questions that you start to find difficult, and go back to them later. My time expired halfway through my math portion of test because I took longer on certain problems and did them in order. No bueno! Wish someone would've told me that advice. It's all good though, I did pass!! But would of gotten a much higher score if I didn't take so much time on the harder math questions.
I took the TEAS VI last month and found that the practice tests on the ATI website were expensive (~$40 if I remember right) but they were accurate and were very representative of the kinds of questions that were on the test. I scored a 94% on the practice test and a 93.3% on the actual test. Things like order of operations (i.e. what is 6 + 4 * 3 - 2?) wasn't on my list of things to study, but sure enough there it was on the test.
I take my TEAS test on Friday April 28th. I wanted to know if there is a square root function button on the calculator provided for the TEAS 6. I have been told that it is only a four function calculator, but I have also been told there is a square root button so I am looking for some clarification.
