Hi everyone!
So I take the TEAS V test Saturday and I'm extremely nervous! The school I'm applying to doesn't require any pre-reqs as they are included in their program. I have my associates in medical assisting and decided to take the next step. I've been studying for the past few weeks, but I'm so nervous! All the school requires is a score of proficient or higher. Is this hard to obtain? I do really well on all the practice tests in my ATI study guide and online. I also took the PSB two months ago, and barely studied at all and failed. I hope it's not anything like that. They are now requiring the TEAS though and I've heard it's easier to pass. Can anyone give me some insight and help calm my nerves!
Thanks in advance!
No bueno. I only had a week to study. So maybe if I study the 30 days and retake, I'm hoping I can do much better. Not sure how to work on Reading and English. My test was funky.
Oh bummer! I'm sorry to hear that. No worries, though. A week is not enough time to study and comprehend all of the information needed to do well on the exam.
If you have the money, I highly recommend the ATI-TEAS study guide and practice tests. When you're studying make sure you take plenty of breaks; move around, drink water, and grab a snack. Try to set aside 2-3 hours a day to focus on one subject. The exam results provide feedback as to what you need to focus on or "review", utilize that! There are hundreds or videos on YouTube and Khan Academy offers loads of information. Those resources are FREE so you don't have an excuse to not use them.
Reading and English can be tricky. I would search for grammar lessons online and take "practice grammar tests". Take your time with the reading sections. The questions are geared toward comprehension, point of view, what is the author trying to do (persuade, inform, etc.), know the difference between fact and opinion. Go back to the basics of reading comprehension and grammar!! I know I needed to when I took the exam haha.
The Internet has a lot of information to offer you for free. Take advantage of it!
A couple of tips:
- Don't study the night before the exam.
- Spend the day before relaxing, if you can.
- Get plenty of sleep the night before.
- Have a good breakfast the morning of.
- Leave early so that you have 10-15 minutes to sort of "prepare" (mentally) before the exam.
- Bring a bottle of water with you.
- Take breaks between each section (if they allow it) to get your blood flowing again!
Good luck and if you have any more questions, let me know :)

Okay! Well, just because they only require a score of proficient doesn't always mean that a proficient score will be accepted. However, if you feel as though that score will get you accepted into the program then that's all that matters. Good luck and congratulations, again! :)
