I know exactly what you're talking about. I was confused too with this exact setup. The book does have errors, and if your cover is Red (earlier book release) than ATI has created an corrected addendum for your book. Here is the link for that addendum: https://www.atitesting.com/Libraries/pdf/TEAS_Corrections_08_22_2016.sflb.ashx
However, there is no correction in the addendum. The way I look at it is that DNA is read in the 5' to 3' direction. The page before does say "DNA double-helix are "read" by the cell in the 3' to 5' direction. I consider this contradictory to their figure on the next page. What you should know is that nucleotides are added on the 3' Carbon directional to the 5' carbon; that is when Replication & Translation is taking place. Initially, the 5' to 3' is the BASE that is being read, and how it's replicated/translate is the 3' to 5' end. Whether ATI knows of the contradictory mistake is uncertain. Hope this helps!
There really shouldn't be any errors in this stupid book, considering that this is a deciding factor of whether an RN program will accept you/your scores or not. ATI makes a ton of money off this scam, they should have it proof read multiple times before publication. I hate that there are so many errors in this book. If I fail the TEAS (which in my humble opinion is a waste of my money, I may not get into the program due to typo errors.) Its all about making money off everyone, and finding ways to make even more by adding all these stupid entrance exams that have no bearing on whether you will exceed in your nursing skills and abilities or not. Again, my personal, humble opinion.
DNA is read in the 3-5 direction. A new RNA strand is built in the 5-3 direction.
ATI is wrong but they are the ones giving the test.?

The schools should only look to your grades to determine who gets in.

Has anyone gone over this question yet?
In which of the following directions is DNA read?
A. Left to right
B. Top to bottom
C. 5' to 3'
D. 3' to 5'
The book says the answer is C.
But the previous page says "DNA double-helix are 'read' by the cell in the 3' to 5' direction"
I'm confused...
