I will be applying to schools for the Fall 2012 school year. I plan to take A&P over spring and summer. One of the schools I am applying to requires the teas but it needs to be one by february. So... I guess my question is how can I best study for the teas prior to taking the classes that cover some of he subject matter?

Grab the review book and start taking practice tests. This will give you a good idea of what material will be on the actual exam.
For me, I plan on taking my time and getting as many science courses under my belt as possible before taking the TEAS. I think it's better off taking my time and doing as well as I possibly can before applying to the nursing program rather than trying to rush just to get in and start sooner.

I just took the teas. I prepared by purchasing the prep book from ati. It isn't cheap, but it definitely helps especially the practice online test. I recently took a&p so that helped a little, but there wasn't a ton of that on the test. I just brushed up on my chemistry and dna questions using the prep book.
I only have science classes to take and I'm taking 1 class per semester (well this semester is Micro + human development). Its just how things align with me applying to school. I'm sure I'll do fine on the TEAS, I just have to study a little.
I'm sure you will do fine...
I just took human development and start my sciences in the spring. Have to re-take chem as it expired. no fun! Good luck to you. Let me know how the Teas 5 is.
