TEAS Preparation - has anyone taken this before?

Published

I'm scheduled to take the TEAS (www.atitesting.com) on the 9th of December and I'm a nervous racket. Seems like everytime i study, I forget the information the next day. :uhoh3: How do you retain these information? I know they say "if you don't use it, you lose it". I'm currently carrying a 14 credit load and working full time with a two year baby girl. I've manage to keep my grades at a B average on all of my science courses. For some reason I can't remember the details of A&P. Do we need to know these for the TEAS?

:idea:Has anyone taken the TEAS before? Can you please help me with which subject I really have to focus on in the Science section. Fortunately A&PI is not a required pre-req for Middlesex County College but instead it's a co-req. So my worry is since I haven't taken the A&PI yet, will these subject be a part of the exam too? :uhoh21: I'm so nervous, please help!!

I just took the online assesment for the second time, I scored an 87% this time, however the test is the exact same one I took last week, I was hoping they would mix it up a bit. My wakest areas were Physical science and General science, also grammar I got a 75% and Contextual words were 77% everything else was 100%. I have studied the whole book front to back many times over, taken every test known and tried to break down my weak areas. I have learned alot of things I didn't know, however there are somethings that I will just not get, like the physical science stuff I scored a 33% you either know it or you don't, I have never taken a course like that and so I have no idea at all what it was asking. If the real TEAS asks similar questions I will do ok from memorization, however if they are from that catagory and not in the book I will be doomed in science.

Oh wow catz...yeah it's really tough, but when you get to A&P I know for sure it's even harder. When is your exam? I wish you the best of luck girl. I know biological science are more memorization, physical and chemical is more computational. If I remember correctly, you have to remember the strategy. I'm taking chem II right now, and I have to tell you it's so much complicated than Calculus. For some reason, it's just the conversion back and forth really confuses me sometimes, and I tend not to do the last step to get the correct answer. It's more on strategy to get the right answers. I have an exam tonight, and I've been up studying for Chem until 3 in the morning and I'm still not quite sure what is what. I'm a pictorial person, so if I see it written down or solved somewhere, I'll remember it, but sometimes the strategy parts get to you.

I take the exam Saturday. I have taken all the AP and micro as well as Chemistry, I have gotten A's in all my courses. I have just never been required to take things like earth science or physics, just not needed for my degree. So those things are killing me because even reading the book I just can't make the connection half the time I finish reading the question and think what did they just ask. Crazy. I am trying not to even focus on that any more I have only one more day for studying, so I am using that on getting my math down faster, so I can do the problems quickly. From what I have heard many people run out of time on the math portion and don't even get to finish due to lack of time on that section.

I took the TEAS test and found the majority of the questions were common knowledge. I would suggest reviewing fractions, decimals, and basic metric but the other questions to me were simply either you know it or you don't. One of the questions asked how you would balance a check book, one asked about the difference between gross and net pay on a paycheck. The science questions were mainly physical science based. The questions covered such a broad spectrum that I didn't feel like one could study for it. Take your time and read each question carefully. I scored in the top 1% in the US and I will be the first to admit neither math nor science are my strong subjects. My advice is just don't rush, take time to read each question and review basic math skills.

That's awesome Shadrach. Top 1% is great. If science and math is not your best subject, then that means for those who are good in that area will do just fine. I'm hearing a lot of good info on this TEAS exam. I guess we're a little over anxious and nervous as the NLN pre-entrance are known to be hard. Thanks for the info.
