  1. My school's rounding rules state that if the answer is greater than 1 ml round to 10th place if less than 1 ml round to 100ths.
  2. I will finish my first semester at Gordon on Friday. It has been challenging but fun. Good Luck!
  3. And she wants to be a nurse?
  4. What particular issues are you struggling with? I still have my notes and would be happy to forward them to you if you think this would help. I had a terrific instructor. Just let me know.
  5. I am an even older student, 44. I too have been in school many years but for a different reason. I have obtained an accounting and psychology degree but something deep down inside keeps pulling me toward nursing. The thing that jumps out at me in reading your post is that you point out how stressful your life is right now. My question is why would you add to this level of stress by quitting your current job adding to financial stress and entering nursing school adding the stress of studies, test, clinical schedules, no time for family, etc...As I said, I am an older student. I have one daughter in college and one son in high school. Kids need your time, not a bigger house, nicer clothes, or newer car. These are all things that you can acquire later in life. Live life as simply as you can now and enjoy your time with your family. You can go back to school when your kids are older and YES, your brain will still cooperate. I have a 4.0 to prove it.
  6. I took the TEAS test and found the majority of the questions were common knowledge. I would suggest reviewing fractions, decimals, and basic metric but the other questions to me were simply either you know it or you don't. One of the questions asked how you would balance a check book, one asked about the difference between gross and net pay on a paycheck. The science questions were mainly physical science based. The questions covered such a broad spectrum that I didn't feel like one could study for it. Take your time and read each question carefully. I scored in the top 1% in the US and I will be the first to admit neither math nor science are my strong subjects. My advice is just don't rush, take time to read each question and review basic math skills.
  7. My school's current policy is 5 years but beginning in fall 08 sciences are good for only 3 years.
  8. I finished A & P and Micro summer of 2007. The problem with A & P at my school is the fact that all of the instructors have a very heavy accent and they are very difficult to understand. This adds to the complication of learning complicated material. The instructors tend to compensate poor test scores by giving bonus points. My opinion is that I am paying to learn not just to get a good grade. My solution was simply to do alot of self study. I have learned through my years of study that it is much easier for me if I shy away from the complaint sessions. If I go into something with a negative attitude, I will find alot to complain about, however, if I remind myself of my reason for being in a particular situation and focus on my goals, I find that I am motivated to continue. Hope this helps. Good luck as you continue your studies.
  9. I am sorry you have a negative opinion of the nursing profession. It sounds like you are feeling overwhelmed or overextended. Care to discuss further?
  10. I have been accepted to begin the Nursing Program in the Spring. I have attained a degree in Accounting and Psychology but am still drawn to Nursing. I don't know if I would be a good floor nurse because as I have gotten older my stomach has weakened and the idea of giving a shot freaks me out. Are these fears something that I would overcome during clinicals? Also, I am 45 and the thought of memorizing all those drugs is overwhelming. I have recently attended college and maintained a 4.0 up to now. Anybody out there who has found themselves in a similar position or who can offer wise advise?
