TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?

TEAS EXAM: I failed... Anyone take it with some advice? I failed the science portion. GRR... I am very weak on life science and general science. I was wondering, if you take it the second time, is it the same test or is it a different one with all new answers?

Thanks, I need all the help I can get!

Took the TEAS today and I am soooooo happy. I ranked in the 99th percentile with an overall 92.4%.

I got about the same score, also ranking in the 99th percentile.

A lot of it is stuff I vaguely remembered from high school science/English/math. I bought a few review books. I had a hard time finding "TEAS" specific books, but there were some that included TEAS and the other tests they cover are similar enough. Take the time to review the basics, such as basic formulas (C to F temps, math formulas such as area/perimeter).

I did not pay for any online classes/tests.

Review really basic chem and bio... really simple stuff like what the Krebs cycle is or what atomic bonds are. If you're really lost, maybe stop by your library and skim over some of the intro-level books?

If you're not applying for NS yet and can work on some pre-reqs, do those first. Sometimes the stuff you cover in will have a few questions on the exam. I took my pre-req Stats, Anatomy/Physiology, and English classes before the TEAS -- that material helped me a lot. In my school, I could take all the non-nursing classes I wanted before applying for & starting the nursing-program classes.

Hello there, I see you did very well on your English TEAS Test. I did badly on my first attempt. Could you offer some tips on how to do well?

5 Star Nurse I am not sure if your question was directed to me or someone else but I did post my scores. I really don't remember the English section at all but I swear if you purchase the study guide by ATI and do their online practice tests you will have a huge edge over every one else.

I highly recommend the study guide that ATI puts out.

Good luck!

Yeah, it was directed to you. I have studied the ATI Manual/Study guide still... I do badly in the English portion. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

Did you purchase their online practice tests? They are identical to the real thing.

I really don't remember the English portion of the exam but English is not one of my weaknesses. I am currently applying for direct entry Masters programs in Nursing and writing A LOT of essays and personal statements. I am also studying for the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) and learning a ton of new vocabulary.

I don't think the English section is really something you can cram for. It is something that has been built up over time. The practice exams really will help though.

Thank you. I will purchase it and try. I appreciate your help.

I agree with the other poster, the science part is really unpredictable... either you know it or not.

It seems that there are many Earth Science questions on the recent test.

But the ATI study covers all that stuff. Everything I saw on the exam was in the ATI study guide including the questions about types of rock sediments.

Oh and I got accepted this semester and start tomorrow. Yay!

Congrats mguido!

I also failed the science portion of the teas exam. The recommended study guide did not help. So I printed my results off website and focused on all 5 areas separately. I checked out 3 GRE science textbooks and 2 other textbooks from the public library. They were GRE chemistry, A&P, Biology, earth science, and the elements. I studied day and night for 3 weeks. They WORKED. I passed my retake and scored 90th in my program percentile. Mind you I failed first two times. Way better option than memorizing study guide because you'll know the information.

The first time I took it I failed but the parts I failed I didn't concentrate on I then took it on week later and passed.
