TEAS ANXIETY!

Published

I am taking the TEAS this Friday (March 12th) and am soooo nervous! Sometimes I feel like I know enough and then suddenly, I'll feel like I am completely unprepared. How do I calm down? And has anyone had computer glitches on their tests? I am worried about all sorts of random problems happening. And not having studied enough! Like I will make a dumb move and this will give me a low score. AHHH!!!!

Sorry, had to vent a little. :uhoh3:

It will be ok. You know what you know and leave it at that. Freaking out doesn't help at all and you know that. I took it without studying much. Took the practice test that was in ATI book and once on-line. Scored 84 on the actual test. Not great, but acceptable. Yes, I did have computer glitches and had to reset twice towards the end. Missed a whole page and lost interest. English is my second language so if I can pull it off, I'm sure you can too. Just try to stay focused. Good luck!

I have total TEAS anxiety right now! My test date is April 12th. I have straight A's in all my classes but I cant seem to get past a 78 on the ATI practice test in the book. Its just tooooo much to know! Some of this stuff is ridiculous and I honestly dont think its a fair assessment of what kind of nurse youll be. I basically need a 90 to be allowed into the program at my school sooo Im definately stressed.

I took the TEAS in January without having studied at all. I just figured I'd try it to get an idea of what was on the test. I ended up scoring an 88.2%. I'm sure if I had studied I would have done even better, but I only need a 67% for my school. It really isn't hard at all, don't stress over it! I don't know about the computer glitches, my test was pencil/paper. GOOD LUCK!! :)

Soon2BeK10RN, have you looked at the TEAS threads on here? Would you say that the content they are saying to watch out for (like the science being all over the place) is accurate? I'm just so nervous about the unknown. We are allowed to take the TEAS 3 times per calendar year with 30 days in between, so I could theoretically take it three times before the application deadline, cutting it close with the last testing. But I don't have $150 to waste on trying it out lol. Especially if I bomb it. Your grade is really good, I'd feel very comfortable if I got an 88.2% (especially without studying, smarty-pants ;)). Thanks!

nickynoodles, how much was the online pratice test? And where do you get it?

I did start looking at the science portion on my friend's study guide but she told me not to even bother. She was correct, nothing on there was the same. Honestly, I went in knowing I was not going to do well on the science and I was right, I only scored a 74%. They asked questions about cloud formation, rock types, tetonic plates; that was all stuff I had no idea about it and it was too broad to study, KWIM? There was one anatomy question and a couple micro questions.

If you can be strong in math and grammar/reading comprehension, you'll do fine! Honestly, there were 4 questions about reading a menu; which item was the most expensive, which came with soup, etc. If you can read a menu, you can pass this test!! lol My one piece of advice would be to brush up on your basic math (fraction/decimal conversions, mean/median/mode, etc) and to make sure you can work them out quickly. I noticed a lot of people ran out of time and didn't finish the math section. I was able to finish with about 10 minutes left and was able to go back and check my answers. I heard people say there were 5, 8, 10 questions they didn't answer...that's a lot!! That was probably the trickiest part ;) You'll do fine, don't stress too much! :)

MJ,

I took the practice tests in the ATI book and averaged my scores but I hear there is a more complete practice test on the ATI website for @ $35 to purchase.

Of course there is a practice test on their website that costs money. Haha, as if the study guide wasn't expensive enough!!! lol

Don't worry. You'll do fine. The actual TEAS was easier than the practice test. The science is not that random. It covers A&P, general biology, ecology, earth science, chemistry, and physics. I thought the science on the practice test online was hard, but it was pretty simple on the actual test. Just take a deep breath, and relax. I took the test Monday, btw.

i went in without studying and i did decent 87.1% overall and 83.3% science portion. The reading is EASY, the math is okay but you have to make sure you do the problems quickly (most said they didnt get to finish) cause it was all by hand no calculators. The english portion kind of reminds me of those high school exit test (TAKS). The science portion was funky cause it talked life science like the other person stated above. Just don't worry, you should do fine.

You're going to do awesome, MJ. I just know. :D I'll send happy thoughts your way tomorrow, and then you'll come on here and post that you got a 102%. ;)
