TCU/Wesleyan Interviews

Nursing Students SRNA

Hi everybody!

Just wondering if anyone out there has experience with either TCU or

Wesleyan interviews? I have applied for this coming year 2006 and am awaiting an invitation for an interview. Any tips or hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Hi! I'm new to the site but I had an interview at TWU earlier this month. I too was accepted after my interview. I cancelled my interview at TCU so I don't know what they may ask. I've heard, and I experienced this myself, that they will ask you questions pertaining to the critical care area you work in. I work in Coronary Care, so all my questions pertained to that. I would say whatever your specialty, make sure you know it inside and out. Also, they may ask you some basic out of your specialty questions to see if they can fluster you! Above all stay calm and if you don't know something, just say so! Hope that helps!:)

What made you prefer TWU over TCU?

What made you prefer TWU over TCU?

Well, that's a sticky question since I don't want to offend anyone. I have friends that have gone to both schools. I think they are both good programs. For me, the prestige and reputation at TWU being the more established program was one factor. Also, I had a much more pleasant experience in dealing with the staff at TWU; they were more accomodating. Overall, I felt more comfortable because I know what to expect at TWU. Hope that answers your questions! Good luck to you if you are also applying or attending the schools!:)

I interview for 2005 at TWU and didn't get in, the interview was very cold and the people were not that friendly. I have since interviewed at ASU (was accepted Jan '07) it was a long but good experience. Finally, I interviewed at TCU in Febuary and knew within the week that I was accepted and had received my choice in clinical site.:D The interview and the people at TCU were a complete 360 from TWU. I also read earlier about the class sizes. Being in a class of 120+ can put you at a disadvantage when it comes to faculty to student ratios. It is similar to being one of the 10,000 new freshmen at LSU. You have a better chance at getting lost in the shuffle :uhoh21:.

That's interesting. I interviewed at TCU last week and was quite underwhelmed by them.

Of the two people that interviewed me, one was dressed in blue jeans. That seemed unprofessional to me. That particular interviewer also spent a bit of time on her cell phone DURING my interview. I was not offered a tour of the campus, nor even a tour of the Nurse Anesthesia building to include the human simulator lab. All in all, I feel TCU did a poor job of recruiting, which really surprised me since they have a direct competitor that is only about 5 miles away from them.

I have yet to interview with TWU.

Are you going to attend ASU or TCU?

Just wondering, have you been rejected by TCU? Would you go there if you are invited? Do you think you made a good impression, or did you have some kind of negative vibe that may have come across to the interviewers? Do they always offer others a tour? How was the other interviewer...you only mentioned one with blue jeans (by the way what is wrong with blue jeans...after all it is Texas).;) It is always interesting how different people perceive things in various ways. Also, maybe they didn't need to recruit anyone...they probably have plenty of qualified applicants.

I accepted TCU it starts sooner and is a better option for my family.

My interview was very professional, I received a tour of the Nursing Department as well as the immediate campus(library, housing, etc). They were very interested in what I had to say about myself. Those grilling questions did not seem to be too bad

I have noticed a lot of differences b/t interviews. Either way bad or good, just go with the one that fits the best for your own situation. Everyone has their own opinions

If it will help to provide clarification, I will answer all of your questions:

I have not been rejected by TCU. I have yet to receive a decision from them after my interview.

At this point, I don't know if I would accept an invitation to TCU. It may depend on the clinical site and what other opportunities are available to me.

I do feel I made a good impression during my interview.

I don't know if they always offer others a tour. I know they offered "gasmn2b" a tour.

The other interviewer was dressed in a nice business suit and did not accept any cell phone calls during our meeting.

The problem with blue jeans is that this was a formal interview. I went to the trouble of dressing the part and I would expect the other parties to do the same out of respect. And, yes, I am from Texas so I know the blue jean culture.

I am the one that took off work and traveled 6 hours for this meeting. It didn't seem like the TCU people took into consideration the trouble that I went to for this interview.

That may have been my perception, but it was based on facts: informal dress by the interviewer, accepting cell phone calls during my interview, no offer of a tour by the interviewers. All of these show a lack of respect.

Well, both of my interviews are done :uhoh3: Frankly, I don't think I interviewed well for TCU, just got bad vibes during the whole thing. I had the last interview of the day, it only lasted 30 minutes. :o The main interviewer looked very tired and the second interviewer walked in just as I was starting my clinical questions--about 15 min into it... My anxiety level was extremely high and they looked disappointed to hear that I had made application to TWU. Is there some underlying tension between these two programs? I also felt very overdressed. I had on a very classy black pinstripe business suit.

I felt I had much better luck with the TWU interview. The interviewers were much more relaxed, again, I was the last interviewed for that day.

I have heard nothing from either school...hope the boat has not sailed without me as this has been a long journey to get to this point.

I recently had my interview at TWU and was told they interviewed 450 and will be accepting 100.

I interviewed with TWU in November. With numbers like that, I hope they don't completely forget who I am. They gave me positive feed-back after the interview, I just hope they don't think that my 'good' interview was not that great in comparison with the 400 or so who interviewed after me.

At the time I felt like it went great. I can see how easy it would be to get lost in the shuffle. However, I have a friend who interviewed there 3 years in a row before he finally got in. They always seemed to know who he was and noted how his interviews improved, but one year they did tell him that he should get his CCRN before the next interview. He already had it, and had told them so!

I was told they are accepting 120, down from 140 last year.

They offered me a spot on the day of my interview, but I have not yet decided if I will accept it. I have still not heard from TCU, who I interviewed with 2 weeks ago.
