TCU Questions

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I'm new to this site..i heard about it through a friend and love it. Well i'm a pre nursing student i'm thinking about applying to Texas Christian University as a transfer for Spring 2010. When i spoke with the counsler at TCU she told me that it is a bit harder to get accepted in the spring. My overall gpa 3.8 and my science gpa is a 4.0. My questions are:

What were your Hesi A2 scores when u were accepted?

Have anyone transfered to the spring semester, if so, what were your grades?

How good is the program?

Thanx!

Since not very many people in the DFW area are willing to pay $14,000 per semester for a nursing program such as TCU, the chances of you getting admitted are pretty solid. The community colleges and state universities are much more competitive since they are more affordable.

My friend had a 2.6 grade point average and a Hesi A2 score of about 75, and she still got admitted to TCU but didn't attend due to the pricey tuition.

you sound more than qualified to apply and get accepted. I didn't take the HESI, but I am now studying to take it. Goodluck!

i can tell you the reason why it is hard to get in for the spring at TCU is because if you start out at TCU and you do the nursing program the time you will transition into the acutal program is the spring. so its easier to get in the fall. tcu automatically accepts their student if they are passing. so when thats all said it done they start in the spring. i can tell you if you were to apply for the fall you will have no problem but with your gpa you should be fine for the spring as well.

I was gonna say exactly what Prettyladie said, so I won't go into that any more than she did! But I will say, yes the program is great. I loved it, and it was totally worth the "$14,000" a semester that I paid (which I'm not sure is even accurate because it wasn't quite that pricey when I was there a year and a half ago). Plus TCU is great about scholarships, being a private university, so nobody ever actually pays that much. You get really good one on one with your professors and instructors, and in general they all wanted us to succeed and did everything they could to help us get there.

My final semester, I was pregnant and had a huge disadvantage. Everyone told me I was going to have to take a semester off and graduate late. All of my teachers bent over backwards and did WAY more than they had to in order to let me graduate and walk with my nursing class across the stage. That's the kind of priority you get at TCU. I would do it all over again any day.

yeah i wanted to go to TCU really badly. but i only took the reading, grammar and math part of the HESI because thats all that another school wanted and i didnt realize i had to take all the sections for TCU, so i didnt want to retake it again, but yeah TCU is just like BAYLOR, they are both private and they give you scholarships to help you out. so in a way its really not that bad. so i ended up applying to baylor, so hopefully i will find out soon.

Thank you... that makes me feel alot better. I wish all of you the best of luck!:wink2:
