TCU Fall 2014 Applicants

Published

I know TCU is really expensive however, someone is applying ... right? I am going to apply just to see what happens. I am applying as a transfer student, 3.76 overall GPA... working on increasing my science GPA from 3.50. There is information on the TCU site, but not a lot. Can anyone tell me what their selection process or trend for acceptance GPA wise is? How is the program for those who were accepted? What were the stats for those who were wait-listed in the past? What are your stats for those who are applying?

This post is for hopefuls and current students with information to share.

I went ahead and almost completed my nursingCAS, I input all my classes...which took forever. I would need to take 4 classes before the nursing program starts, which isn't too bad because I can do them during the summer.

I did a transcript request, and just need to upload my hesi scores and resume. Then pay the $45, and submit.

From what I read students are considered for scholarships when they are admitted to TCU, and the nursing program.

I will be applying to 3 other ADN programs and LVN as a worst case back-up.

Here is a link to their site TCUAdmission | Transfer | Scholarship & Financial Aid. It is a short list because they have private scholarships as well.

Nursinghopeful817- thanks!! I will look into that :)

@Nursinghopeful817

I will be BSN core complete after this spring semester. I'm taking economics and chemistry for midwestern state. If I go the ADN route I will have a smooth transition and plan on applying to midwestern RN-BSN as soon as I graduate since GN (graduate nurses) can apply to midwestern program. They have 3 app periods fall/spring/summer so I would apply for summer or fall whichever comes first after I graduate.

I initally planned on only applying to BSN programs but I have been debating the price and find it cheaper to get my ADN then only pay for a year for my BSN. The price is a MAJOR difference and the time is a semester difference in regards to TCU and Midwestern BSN programs that are five semesters.

Either way I will be satisfied I just know how competitive nursing schools are! I was going to apply to UT Houston but their admission committee/secretarys and staff is not helpful at all! So that school is crossed off my list. I'm applying to TCU/MIDWESTERN/GRAYSONN COLLEGE/WEATHERFORD COLLEGE.

I shall see what happens ;)

@PD82

I have heard of that:no: and magnet status is the reason why I really want to get my BSN :yes: but if I go the ADN route I will defiantly continue onto my BSN.

The application process was something else!! I finally finished mine after spending hours with inputing my grades and double checking them. It took me some time to write my personal statement but I finally completed that as well. Now I'm just waiting on my transcripts to arrive well 2 of them.

I went ahead and submitted my stuff. I will be applying to WC, DCCCD colleges, and TCU for the Fall. Im applying to both nursing and respiratory care.

Does grayson college have a good program? I have not heard of them...I live in keller so its a ways away.

I personally do not know anyone who have attended Grayson but from the previous boards I have not read any complaints for the program! I'm taking that as a good sign! I see that you are on the 2014 Grayson Forum. Did you follow the link provided, and do you know how many points you have toward admission?

Im nervous just took my Hesi A2 today and i was surprised to have made a low score because i didn't think it was that bad. It was a pretty fair exam compared to one of my previously test.

Here are my stats

4.0 Prerequisites GPA

4.0 Overall GPA

82 Hesi A2 Exam

Should i Retake the hesi A2 exam?

Hi zaydenlove1. I think your overall stats will keep you very competitive. With the HESI, it depends... what are the individual stats? If you scored less than 80 on anything; especially Math, A&P, or Reading... I say yes, retake it but try somewhere else if you took it at TCU. When I took it there, I scored lower as well. There was no clock so I was rushing, the test administrator was disorganized, and my aggravation with all of that distracted me.

@Zaydenlove1

I also made a 82.8 on my HESI.

90-Math

86-Reading

80-Anatomy

80-Grammar

78-Vocabulary

I was bedating on retaking the HESI but I'm not going to take a chance of doing worst on a section I did my best on. I'm just Praying for the best!

@Nursinghopful817 What did you make on the HESI?

The first time I took for entrance to Tarrant County College (which does not require A&P) it I made:

88-Math

90-Reading

96-Grammar

86-Vocabulary

90%

I took it again for TCU because of A&P and Mountain View which requires Critical Thinking because Mountain View doesn't allow piecing scores together and I wasn't sure if I could only take A&P for TCU and this is what I got:

80-Math

82-Reading

90-Grammar

92-Vocabulary

80-A&P

970 out of 1000 - Critical Thinking

84.8% Not Happy :madface: According to the HESI site, I got the "recommended score" for each section, but I was A LOT better in the majority of the sections the first time. I may take it again, but only if no one accepts me anywhere!

yeah I think my nerves go the best of me. Where else can i take it other than TCU cause i need to retake asap because the admission deadline is feb 1st. @Nursinghopeful817.
