TCCD nursing classes-Apply to program in Aug-Sept period?

Published

I have heard conflicting information so I am so confused.

I am finishing up A&P I right now, second summer session I will be taking the Chem. Starting in August I will be taking Micro, A&P II and the last Psych class. This is all I have left. I am going to go ahead and apply this next period because I will be done with A&P I and with Chem.

I have a BS in Education and have all the other prereqs done.

Can anyone CONFIRM that NO ONE has been admitted without having completed ALL prereqs?

Thanks:down::up:

This is what it states in the information packet which is available on the nursing webage at www.tccd.edu/nursing

The following courses must be completed prior to applying to the nursing program:

CHEM 1406- Essentials of General and Biological Chemistry

BIOL 2401-Anatomy & Physiology I

MATH 1314 or completion of a college-level mathematics course or by a placement test score of a minimum level of elementary algebra.

I hope this helps.

I know a few people who did not finish their PE class, but I have not met one person in the nursing program that did not finish any of their other prereqs. I'm not trying to sound negative. This is only my experience. I'm going into my final year of the program. It may be possible, but I've never heard of it happening. They put so much emphasis on the science classes. I know that the web site says that A&P I, Chemistry, and meeting the math competency are all that is needed to apply. That is true. So, you might want to go ahead and apply. The worst they can say is "no." I don't think it is possible to say with 100% certaintly that NO ONE has been admitted without all of their prereqs. Good luck to you, and have fun in Micro. It's an interesting class.:specs:

You will not get in unless your sciences are on your transcript when you apply to the program. TCC nursing program is too competitive....there will be 100s of other's that will have their sciences completed. I didn't know anyone in our program that got in without having a science completed. sorry.

You aren't sounding negative at all, just trying to get a feel for what to expect. I am going to go ahead and apply, just want to be ready for the let down, so to speak.

Thanks for the help! :loveya:

If you already have a bachelors degree...why not do a fast track and get your BSN?

I didn't know you could do that if your degree is not related (mine is in education.) If you have any links you could share to one of these programs I would appreciate it. Studying for an A&P lab exam right now :scrying:

There should be a couple around. Here is a link to TCU's program

I believe UTA does it as well. Its a full time gig but 15 months and you have a bachelors...not 2 years for an associates.

Thank you so much for the links  Part of the reason I picked TCC is the price can't be beat! I have maxed out my student loans already on this degree that I don't use :bluecry1: So everything is payed out of pocked for me.

I will check them out, I know I can't do TCU waaaaay too expensive.

Thanks again!!

Well I guess I am going to apply this week. I signed up for the TEAS and the information session. I know chances of getting in are slim, but I need to try anyway.

Anyone with me?:nurse:

I am applying too! I finish up chem tomorrow and after that we"ll keep our fingers crossed together!

Best of luck and I hope to see you in January! :nurse:

Well I ended up getting a high C in Chemistry :( I really hated that class. I didn't do well on the final and I was borderline B/C before that. OH well.:bluecry1:
