  1. This is what it states in the information packet which is available on the nursing webage at www.tccd.edu/nursing The following courses must be completed prior to applying to the nursing program: CHEM 1406- Essentials of General and Biological Chemistry BIOL 2401-Anatomy & Physiology I MATH 1314 or completion of a college-level mathematics course or by a placement test score of a minimum level of elementary algebra. I hope this helps.
  2. This is totally not true at all. I had Bs in both A&Ps and in Chemistry and an A in Micro and I got in just fine. In fact my final GPA was only a 3.5 I believe. Granted, I did extremely well on the TEAS, but they're all looked at when you apply. Please don't think that if you got a B in a science class that you need to take it over before you even apply. You might be surprised.
  3. I am currently in my third semester at TCC and I got in with 3 Bs and an A in my science classes. I had an overall GPA of 3.5. Do not believe the hype. Yes, it greatly increases your chances to have better grades, but it is not the end of the world if you get a B.
  4. Letters were dated November 16th last year but I don't if they're doing everything the same this time around. Good luck to everyone!!! :balloons:
  5. I can personally verify that it is possiblt to get into TCC with a GPA of 3.2. My TEAS scores were in the 98th percentile though. When I applied for last spring, I still had 2 pre-reqs to go so I was only put on the waitlist. When I applied again for this Fall, I got in! Don't believe all that hype. Just go ahead and apply!!
  6. name: melissa school: tarrant county college, ft. worth, texas program: adn what area of interest at this time: i have always wanted to do labor and delivery. we'll see if i still do after that semester! biggest fear: a cross between being able to afford and being able to juggle school/daycare/a 1 year old/never seeing my husband/photography business...etc... what you'd like us to know about you: lots of things! 1. i met my husband on the internet...we've been married 4 1/2 years already! 2. i grew up in daytona beach but i am sooooo glad i got away from there! 3. i am a beginning photographer and love to take pictures of newborns and young children. i am hoping that i'll be able to make some money doing this while in school to help absorb costs. 4. my husband and i are huge, long-time fans of blue october. he's even sung on stage with them twice! hmmm....can't think of anything of else at the moment.
  7. I'm done with all of my pre-reqs (all of which I've paid with cash as I've gone) so all I have left is nursing school. Ours (ADN program) lists a total of $5000.00 which includes graduation fees. Not too shabby!
  8. I personally worked a 40+ hour a week job during most of my pre-reqs (including ALL of my sciences) and I did just fine. That being said, I have since become a stay-at-home mom and will stay that way through nursing school, which I start in the Fall. The course load and time that is required to study for nursing school is outragous and our school highly recommends that you don't work during it. I think once they get a few weeks into it, they'll probably realize it wasn't such a good idea. They just might have to realize that for themselves.
  9. The only other class I took at NE was Micro...and that was only for a few weeks in the Fall of '05. I was pregnant and got diagnosed with gallstones. We weren't allowed to miss more than one lab without losing major points so I just dropped it. Oh well...looks like we did just miss each other!
  10. I took Carmichael too for both classes and I LOVED her! She really made it a point to make sure everyone understood before she moved on. Plus, she was incredibly approachable. Jaxia - when did you take her? I had her Fall '04 and Spring '05.
  11. I always buy mine online too. Whenever I'm in the bookstore getting ISBN's, I put them into my phone so it looks like I'm sending a text message. I know they can't kick you out or anything for doing it, I'd just rather they not know at all! I can't wait for this darn orientation so I can start working on stuff!
  12. Yayyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations :monkeydance: I guess I'll be seeing you at the orientation!
  13. Just got my letter today! I've been accepted for the fall semester at TCC. AHHHHH!!!! Somebody pinch me!
  14. I got mine - and I got in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy crap...I can't even think straight right now. You all should have yours today too!
  15. Mine usually arrives at around 1:30 so I'll post as soon as it gets here. Good luck everyone!
