Tcat Ripley lpn

Published

I'm trying to get into one of the Tcat LPN programs in the west tn area. I took the compass test about a week ago in Jackson and pass.I have applied to the Ripley school because they are the only school that has a new class starting in January 2016 to my knowledge, and that's close to me. If im not accepted in Tcat Ripley, I do plan on applying for all the other Tcat schools that are with in a 30 mile radius of Jackson. Just hoping and praying that I am accepted!!

Ok great I was wondering when you graduate what do you plan on doing with your books and notes? I am wondering because I will buy anything you're willing to sell from you including notes lol. I need all the help I can get. My husband is a truck driver and he's gone throughout the week so I have to manage 4 kids on my own. I have his mother helping but I know I will need any and everything to help me along the way

Yes I do plan on selling books. And if I have any notes that may be helpful to you, I can give you copies of them.

Ok please email me at [email protected] so that I can give you my information. I am interested in them.

Thanks kjones, I appreciate the information. I have a couple more questions...did you find the dosage calculations difficult to learn?

And as far as Mrs Bratchi's grading system, did any of the final exams on any of your courses ever count for 50% of your final grade or did she stay consistant with the final exams in each course counting only 12.5% toward your final grade? Or did this vary according to each course?

Last, are most of the tests and exams multiple choice or fill in the blanks? Thanks again!

TennesseeNurse do you plan on applying again for the Jan class?

I was considering the 18 month program at Covington. Its closer than the Ripley location & I would be able to keep working.

Ok, you send me an email at [email protected]. we are in our last 2 weeks of medsurg and studying really takes up alot of my time, so just shoot me your info.

Yes dosage and calculations was difficult. We have a 3 strikes and you out test, which is you get 3 chances to make 100% on a 10 question math test. Luckily we didn't loose anyone!! So far the most any final exam has counted for is 30%. Which was pharmacology. Medsurg final will count for 25%. All test so far have been multiple choice. With alot of sata.

Kjones, I have a few more questions to ask if you don't mind...

What is hard about med-surg; I know you mentioned that people were struggling in med-surg, what specifically were they struggling with?

Did the class lose anyone in med-surg?

How many chapters is med-surg?

How many hours on average did you study each day throughout the program?

What is the most amount of chapters you had to study in one night? If I started each subject a week ahead of the syllabus, I shouldn't have to study more than one chapter a night, correct??

What advice would you give or what suggestions would you give for those of us entering the program for a second time to make things a little smoother the next go round?

Aside from the online homework, were you given any other kind of homework assignments?

Thanks again for any information you can give.

The thing that makes medsurg so hard is the fact that you have to take everything that you have learned and put it togather. You are given different types of pathological disorders of each and every body system along with the symptoms, diagnostic testing, and the possible causes. You must then, learn how the patient will be treated medically. Which may include surgery, almost always include giving the patients meds, and many other nursing intervention. Everything that you have learned upon to medsurg will come up. Such as pharmacology, A&p, and even the therapeutic nursing process. Medsurg consisted of 14 units. Each unit has any were from 3 to 6 chapters. We were tested by units, so if a unit had 6 chapters, we had to study all 6 chapters. Normally we had about 2 to 3 days to prepare for a test. We just did the final this past Friday, and to my knowledge everyone passed. I studied about 6 hours every nite. I would suggest that you take really know your A&P, and pharm. Start studying it now. We also had a study guide workbook with medsurg. Which really helped alot. Prepu was really really helpful.

I thought about going ahead and getting a few books that will be used. Which books would you recommend I get? Which ones on the list is a&p book?

I would suggest that you get a book list before buy any books. You don't want to buy books that you can't use.
