I only have 1, and it's on my foot, so no one can see it under my crocs and the knee socks I invariably end up wearing (the kiddies love 'em and think I'm a pirate!). But when I got it, my NM told me she thought it was cute. I know 2 out of 3 of our dayshift HNs have tattoos, but again, none visible.
Where are your tattoos?
well I have 3 tattoos one in my wrist but when I wear a watch which is a necessity i think as nurse you can barely see it at all the other one is on top of my foot but i wear tennis shoes so you cant really see but like everyone said try to keep them to yourself i even have a nurse friend who has 2 sleeves of tattoos on both arms and they are skulls and Medusa and all kinds of scary things he just wears long sleeves all the time even in 105 degree weather..lol
I was student nurse on a Neuro floor when I noticed that the nurse that was also assigned to my patient had a chinese character on the inside of her wrist, I asked her what it stood for? She blurts out "Mercy Rocks!" as she works for mercy health care. What we both did not know was the NM was standing right behind me and let herself be known by busting up laughing. We all had a good chuckle over that one, talk about perfect timing!
LOL!

I'm new to the forums here and haven't posted. I'm a 21 year old nursing school student and I had a question tattoos.
Do hospital administrations look down on hiring or employing nurses who have or get tattoos? I myself don't see it as an issue, but I'm only a nursing student and don't know first hand if they have problems with them.
I was curious if anyone has been in or around a situation like this?
Thanks much for your time :)
