"my skills instructor is really sweet, kind of all over the place sometimes, but boy is she quick to correct you when your doing wrong!!my. theory professor, i don't know.. monotone, straight from power point kind of teacher, expects you to know everything kind of attitude and skips over slides. so we will see how it goes."

are you worried about your lecture teacher? what are your study methods you're planning on using? i'm kind of lost as to what to study.

just drove from school straight home took a warm shower and headed to SE library. i enjoy this chapter 1 reading about the history of nursing:yelclap:

i wanna study some skills stuff too. but i have realised nursing is all the same, a little bit of sugar coating with technology..

i liked my skills teacher though:loveya: than my theory teacher.

stressedoutrn- are we in the same class? LOL

Im a reader and a highlighter, when i read, i also take notes, look up things i dont understand for clarification, write down little comments and i am a "flash card" person. I hope she will clarify on the important things, but how i see it is that if it's on the PP lecture then it means something right? One of the main reasons i HATE the beginning of the semester, you dont know what the exam format is going to be like! yikes! I try to follow along in the book, for what i have seen with most of my professors, if they spend a good amount of time on a topic or something, we need to know it.

Hope that helps!

-Oh and i like my clinical instructor, lol

manow- i saw you today on the 5th floor going in to skills! I remember your bubbly personality! lol

Something I've heard twice over the last two days that really resonated with me was, "Don't kill yourself trying to read ALL of the chapters and take notes while you're reading. You'll never be able to keep up that way." Cover the grey boxes and what's on the powerpoint. The instructor will let you know what's important.

Personally I LOVE the instructor I have (she's the same for clinical and theory). Will know about skills on Friday. LOL

Ours says, "You can read it in the book., im not going to emphasize, you have the book, you can read it in there" :banghead:

I loved both of my instructors! We covered section one and most of section two. I'm glad I stayed with some of my classmates working on the check-off list for skills, less to worry about :)

I heard the same thing about the reading and gray boxes. I am going to try and concentrate on PP, gray boxes and learning outcomes at beginning of chapters and summarys and the end and answering the questions. I was also told by clinical and someone who just finished this semester in the fall to get the Fundamentals of Success study guide and try to do at least 30 questions a week to help prepare for the tests. Oh and make lots of flash cards!!!

I enjoyed hanging with you at lunch and sitting next to you in Theory! I look forward to getting to know you this semester.

i may do that also.. i love flash cards! lol, but my theory professor told us the complete opposite, she literally said " dont even get any sort of book that has to do with NCLEX [fundamentals of success book which i already have...] questions yet, because it's not going to help right now." so im kind of like... wait, what? but im just gonna do what i think is best for me.

Thanks Jen! It was fun to hear about your hunting adventures lol! Seriously, I'm looking forward to know you as well, and studying with you!

I bought the Fundamentals for Success workbook as well. Not much of a notecard person though. LOVING the fact that I can upload the PP's to the iPad on Kindle!!
