I haven't found a thread for Spring 2014 TCC nursing applicants, so I thought I would start one! I still have 2 more classes to complete before I can officially apply. I have an A in A&P I, and hope to have an A in A&PII this semester. I scored 92.5 on my HESI, but I might re-take it.
Who else is applying and what does everyone else have?? :)
Keep your heads up! I am part of the spring 2013 class and we were notified on Nov 1st by email. I remember the wait and how exciting/terrifyng it was! Once you get your letter and attend orientation it never stops! You will be busy for the next 2 years...seriously! Hopefully you will all find out Friday!
Hi! I just started following this thread and I am new to this site so I'm not really sure if this will post correctly. I applied for the Spring 2014 semester at TCC and I will turn in my application to UTA for the Fall 2014 semester. I took all of my prerequisite science courses this summer (summer 1 session- A&P 1 and Chem 1406, summer 2 session- A&P 2 and Microbiology) so I did not have enough prerequisite courses completed to apply for UTA's Spring 2014 semester. I earned my undergraduate in 2011 (BSW) and graduate degree in 2013 (MSSW) from UTA. I would be extremely happy if I am accepted into the nursing program at TCC or UTA. I have heard very good stories about both schools and I am trying to figure out which school would be a better fit for me (if I get in - keeping my fingers crossed). I hope we all get a reply from the school soon!

Thanks juliebusby for the heads up! Friday is the big day and I've officially started counting hours instead of days (64) and my husband thinks I've lost my mind... What a roller coaster of emotions! How's is your fist year gone? Give us the gory details!
@tiffanies I was wondering about the date you had pay by since I don't get financial aid as well. I also wanted to know how much tuition would be per semester. I haven't asked anybody about it yet because I am not expecting to get in the first time around. Taking all 16 hours of prerequisite courses over this summer was probably not a great idea and I ended up with 2-A's and 2-B's so a 3.5 science GPA. When I originally got information from a TCC advisor (not from the nursing program but one of the advisors in the main TR building), I was told that I needed all A's or 3 A's and 1 B to be competitive. I am currently taking the 2 courses again to try to make it a 4.0 for the next application period. If you end up finding out the answer to your question, would you post it? Thank you!!

That's not true!! Some people get in with a 3.5! What was your HESI score? Don't count yourself out!!

I won't lie it ia tough first year! For the first 2 months of foundations , you will want to jump off a bridge BUT it does get better and it is doable! Oh and I got in with a 3.5 & 97 on my Hesi. I think our cut off for my class was 3.5 and 92 on the Hesi! Good luck all!

My cumulative hesi score is a 93% (94% reading comprehension, 90% grammar, 92% vocab, and 96% math). I don't know how they look at the scores or if different sections are weighted more/less? I think that if I have to apply again, I will definitely get a study guide this time to prepare for the hesi.

Although I guess a few more points can't hurt. I would think if you don't make it this time, if you can squeeze out one more A you have a very strong chance! The women I talked to told me they look specifically at the math HESI score and yours is great too! I think you'll make it.
Meanwhile it's now 1010pm on Wednesday night. We are down to roughly 36 hours. I hope I sleep a long time tonight :) that could knock out 9 hours!
And tiffanies-- I just saw your post about your son. How is he doing? With a career in nursing and being his mom, what a great advocate you will be for him! Sending you good thoughts.

I have a question for anyone who might know, I do not get financial aid and usually set up a payment plan for my classes to be paid throughout the semester. If they register us for our first semester then how do we pay? or set up a payment plan? TCC drops you the day after registration if you do not pay immediately or set up a payment plan.
