Tarrant County College Fall 2017

Published

Okay, I cannot take it anymore. I am so ready to get into school but it seems so far away. Anybody else out there planning to apply for fall 2017? Anybody else feeling like time is dragging? What prerequisites do yall have done and what do you have left? I am currently in micro which is all I need to apply. :arghh:

Hi,

I had read on the HESI page on the TCC website that you can only take the test once every 60 days. I thought it meant anywhere. My husband also had this problem and made a 72 on grammar. He was super bummed because we thought he couldn't retest. Is this what you have found out as well? Don't be discouraged and keep on trying though. I'm not sure if that was your first time taking it but I took it in August then in February and improved by 8 points. It's easier the second time around. Good luck!

I just read that too. It wasn't like that last semester it said you could take it there once a semester but you could take it at other places as well if you didn't like your grade. Now it just says you can take it at the prometric testing center if you cannot make it to one of their sessions. I would ask an advisor if I were you. Also I found that emailing Cal directly got me a more prompt response email wise. Just FYI.

I called Cal and he said that the rule is that you can only take the test once every 60 days BUT they have no way of knowing if you retake it some where else. It did use to be that you could only take it once per application period at TCC. I did find out that although dcccd does take the anatomy and physiology section and personality section, TCC will not count that grade and it will not count against you. I actually decided to wait and retake the hesi in July and try to apply for spring semester. Since this was my first attempt I feel like the second time will be easier since I will know what the test is like. Wishing every one else the best of luck!

I am glad you got some answers. Good luck the second time around. I agree that it should be easier for you. :bookworm:

Have you guys attended the information session? There's one today and I'm trying to see if there's a point in going after applying already?

I went over a year ago. You can find the powerpoint on the TCC website. I think it is more for people who haven't turned in their application yet. They did talk a little bit about what school was like but not much. Keep in mind though that that was when Katherine was there and she is gone now. I don't know if they go more in depth now.

This is the longest wait. I swear the days just keep getting slower and slower. If I do not get in I am not going to be a happy camper. :banghead:

Less than a month now, ladies and gents!

Hi all,

I'm Sulma. I just became a member of this forum/thread, but after reading everyone's post, I find myself feeling a little discouraged. I submitted my nursing app today. I have a 3.0 GPA for my science courses and a 86 on the Hesi. I received my Associates in December, so I am sorta hoping my other courses help. I do not have a back-up plan eitherí ½í¸£

I wish all of you applying for the Fall the best of luck!!!

Hi Sulma. There is no harm in turning in your app and seeing what happens. If you don't get in though I suggest taking the Hesi again and taking a science again to raise your GPA. From what I read they are only looking at those two things when considering applicants. 50% hesi 50% science GPA. Hopefully though you will get in and not have to do that.

Welcome to the wait, Sulma! Best of luck to you!!

Hello Future Nurses,

I too have applied to TCC this Fall. Although it can seem nerve wrecking to us. We have to keep the faith! I feel that the odds of getting into the program are pretty good for us. This school realizes that not everyone will have the perfect Hesi score or perfect pre req's. I've made A's in all of my sciences and I just graduated last May with my AS degree. I've also completed my supporting courses for my BSN degree. My Hesi score is 82. Not perfect, but not the worst. So my advice is to just turn in your paperwork and pray. :)

Good Luck to all and if you're accepted or wait listed, let us know!!

I got into UTA so if I get accepted into TCC, I will be giving up my spot. I wish everyone all the best in this journey.
