Tarrant County College Fall 2012

U.S.A. Texas

So I think we are well into the application period so, surely it is time to start up this board. I can not wait until we hear back in May. Trying to keep very busy while waiting. Good luck to everyone applying!! Hopefully we can keep each other company here and celebrate our successes!!

At Caitlyn, the schedule is either 3 or 4 days a week depending on if you have one 12 hour clinical or two 6 hour clinicals. You will also have 4 hours of theory a week and three hours of skills.

My friend who started this spring has a schedule with clinicals on t/th 7-noon, and I believe classes both on m/w with her long day being Wed.. I believe she has Fridays off. I don't think we get a say, but I believe it is possible to trade with someone if both are willing, maybe I made that up??? Student213 correct me if I am wrong?!! I am really hoping that my classes fall during the time my 2 oldest are in school..but I will be grateful just to be there. I will probably put my 2 year old in mother's day out at our church if I have day classes. She will be 3 by the time we start so I feel good about it. As for the HESI, it was hard digging way back in my brain for long division, fractions, etc..but I think it has come back to me! We will see on the 17th, I definitely want an A total on it!

@ Student-

I was reading the spring 2012 thread trying to see what a lot of y'all got on the HESI and I came across one of your posts where you said spring '12 and fall '12 applicants would graduate together.. I did not know that?! How does that work?

I am getting very excited as well! I am taking my HESI on the 17th and turning in my packet after that. I am a bit nervous about the test! I have heard it is not too difficult, but it still makes it scary with the admissions being based 50% on that one score! Hopefully I don't freak out and mess up on it! :) It is exciting to have a fall 2012 board, I have been a lurker for awhile and am happy to have a place now!

Kate0226,

I will take mine on the 10th. I know I study so hard but I feel I didn't prepare for it. How do you feel? Are you ready for the HESI A2? Which book are you studying? I kind of nervous.....

Wish you good luck!

@ Kate, you are almost right. Your friends class must be from 7-1 though. Yes, they will pick you schedule for you but you can trade if you trade the whole schedule. Basically they split us into groups of about 30 in the same theory class, split that group into two 15 member skills classes and 3 10 member clinical groups so he will see the same 30 people ALOT! Kinda cool. If you go to Tccd's nursing page and then click on self registration you can see all the classes one one page for this semester and the hospitals to get an idea of what it is like. Schedules may change by semester, who knows, they are changing a lot of stuff with the new campus.

@ Kate - well, technically we will be graduating and be ready to take the nclex and become RNs in December 2013 but we won't get to walk until you May because TCC only does one graduation a year. Getting in for fall is cool because I would rather walk right when I graduate while it is still exciting. Guess I'll just have to wait, lol.BTW, we are taking an exam next week over 12 chapters in our theory class!!! That's a lot of info. Lol

I am glad you start this trend. I will take the HESI A2 next week, I am a little nervous. Can you give me any advise about the exam? I have been studying very hard; but I am not sure about the Grammer part. I wish you good luck on your application.

I have not taken the exam yet, but I have found some good resources online. I also have the study guide. In the study guide the grammar is pretty standard stuff. As for vocab I like this site: Hesi flashcard sets and study tools | Quizlet

There are a lot of medical terms on the website than in the study guide. I wish you luck on your test!

Hi Christy,

I just want my HESI over and done with! I take mine Friday of next week..I can't imagine having to take the TEAS too! But good for you applying multiple places! I don't think your 3.25 is a long shot, and I wish you good luck on BOTH tests!

I just want to get mine over with! Let us know how it goes for you. A lot of people who have taken it told me to take my time and read extra carefully. I get so worked up during tests I am going to have to slow down and try to do that! Good luck again :)
