Hello,
I'm new here and was just wondering if there are any current or recent grades from TAMUCC's eLine Program. I will be wrapping up my pre-reqs during the summer and applying to the eLine program in August to hopefully start Fall 2016.
Any advice out there on the program such as:
*Likes/Dislikes
*Course Complexity
*Clinicals (extremely interested on how clinicals worked out if you are in the Dallas/Ft.Worth Area)
*How long did it take to complete the program with pre-reqs or without?
*Do you know anything about the program requirements or how many students are accepted?
Thanks!
Update for TAMUCC nursing program clinicals. I have officially been placed at Harris Methodist in Fort Worth. I start tomorrow and I am pretty nervous. I hope everything goes well. It seems like they are pretty flexible with which days you can partake in clinicals, at least mine anyway. However, the manager on the floor I'll be on says I may not have the same nurse preceptor every time. I don't know if that is good or not so good, but we shall see. We'll see how it goes!
So the first day went pretty well. We were very busy. I should be able to work with the same preceptor as she works fixed days. However, there are also pros to working with multiple nurses to see different points of view. I like mine though and I think I'll stick with her if she'll have me :). @bubbles500 good luck to you, hope you get in! Which semester are you applying to? If you have any questions, I'll try my best to answer them for you.
@madisongrinn - That's awesome! Congrats for getting this far!
All I can really say about the interview process is that it is through WebEx. My advisor set everything up after we agreed on the date and time. Some of the professors were sitting at a table in the interview and they just asked me some questions, such as why did you choose to go into nursing? My advise is just to be yourself and don't stress about it too much. I know I was extremely nervous about it as I didn't know what to expect.
Clinicals have been going well, although I have only been in a couple so far. I am awaiting notice of my OB clinicals.
I'm glad I am now in a position to give others some insight. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I need to rant, so please excuse this post. I need to let you guys know something about this program.
Clinical placement is entirely flawed! They take way to long to place you at a location, even if it is within the same hospital. I realize they have a lot of student being place at the same time, but they need a better system. I just has a friend, who WAS a semester ahead of me and was set to graduate in August this year, tell me that she is now having to graduate in December because they took way too long to place her and she didn't have enough time to finish her clinical before the beginning of the current semester. This didn't happen to me and I am so infuriated. The very thought that it could, upsets me. I can only imagine how she feels right now, but I cannot let that happen to me. I've got everything set up to graduate in December. The thought never even crossed my mind that the school would let that happen, but apparently it can and you all need to know this fact. It is in your own hands to make sure this doesn't happen. They leave you in the dark and even if you contact someone by email, it takes forever for them to reply. I'm going to call someone at the hospital about OB clinical, directly, and get this going. I cannot let this happen to me.
I hope this helps you guys in any way possible. I just had to vent to someone and you also really need to know this. Thank you.
