No. I took my pre-reqs at my local community college.

I am thinking about applying for Spring 2017. I still have quite a few more prereqs to take..

I am curious to know if you can register for the classes 1 at a time, or if you have to take a full load each semester.

Also, the closest metroplex to me is Houston (i live in East Texas), so I want to know if they offer clinical placement there. And since I work full time, it would be more conveinent for me to do clinicals on the weekends.

They do have a suggested schedule but I think you can take the classes however you want to. I believe each semester has 3 classes and there was no indication that you were required to take all three at the same time, however, I do believe they have a specific order in which they want you take the classes. As far as clinical placement (I had the same question) the clinicals are set up by the clinical placement adviser ( i think that's what they called it). If they are able to locate a clinical in your area at the time that you are taking the course then you are good to go. Otherwise, the counselor did tell me that in rare cases, you may have to drive to Corpus Christi for a weekend or overnight stay in order to meet the clinical requirement for that course.

Thanks, that does help! Corpus is about 5 or 6 hours for me, so I'm hoping they can place me in Houston or Dallas even (which is 3 hours). Thanks for the info!

I started the eline program this summer. I know we do not get to start clinicals until after checkoffs. It is very important to have all your certified profile (immunizations, CPR certification, hospital orientation certificate, etc.) finished before checkoffs so they can place you as soon as possible. There are 135 hours of clinical to complete for Health Assessment in the first semester, but they will let you carry it over into the next semester. It would be impossible to finish otherwise. You do not get a grade for that class until clinicals are finished. I will let you know more after I get my clinical placement. I live in the Denton area, so I am a good 7 to 8 hours from Corpus Christi.

I don't remember it being particularly difficult to get accepted. The most difficult part was coordinating the application and getting my transcripts to the school. I used the NursingCAS website for the application process. I actually had to take Health Alterations and Pharmacology at TAMUCC after I applied. I took them at a community college, but they wouldn't accept those as they were not upper level classes. I had to have my application in by October 2014 to begin in Summer 2015, but I didn't take those two pre-reqs until Spring 2015. So it is possible to have applied and then take pre-reqs. The way the recommended schedule is set up is you take about 3 classes each semester, for 5 semesters straight (including summer sessions). So, since I started this summer, I will be finished by December of next year (summer, fall, spring, summer, fall). This semester is 13 hrs, fall 2015 - 12 hrs, spring 2016 - 12 hrs, summer 2016 - 9 hrs and fall 2016 - 13 hrs. This semester is especially hard for me as it is a summer session and we only get 10 weeks to finish the same classes students in the fall or spring semesters would have 16 weeks to finish them in. Normal full time summer session is 6 hrs, so you can imagine. It's been pretty rough, so far, but I figure if I can get through this semester without drowning, I should be okay. As I stated before, this is a recommended schedule. You can take less per semester, it will just take you longer to finish the program. Also, if you stay on track with the recommended schedule, you are guaranteed a spot in the next classes, so you don't have to rush to register for them. However, if you fail a class, you are not guaranteed a spot in the next semester and you have to retake the class.

Great info. For your clinicals, do you get to pick your clinical days and times? How many days a week are you required to be at your clinical site. What city do you live in? Is your clinical site close to where you live? I applied for the spring start date. I'm still curious to know how everything works. Thank you.

I got an email about a prospective clinical site in Fort Worth. I live in the Ponder/Denton area. The hospital still hasn't got back to me about taking me on yet though, so not for sure if I will be going there or not. The school also contacted a hospital in Gainesville, but they haven't responded. I'm not really sure how scheduling works yet, but I'm pretty sure you just can't exceed 24 hours a week. No more than 2 consecutive days in a row. I think scheduling is between you and your preceptor.
