It's a bit farther north, but it may be worth looking into Pasco Hernando Community College, New Port Richey. They have fewer pre-reqs than St. Petersburg College and reasonable tuition for in-state/residents. PHCC also has a LPN program and a RN program, along with the LPN-RN track.
I'm actually applying to both PHCC and SPC (ADN-RN programs) in the Spring for the Fall 2010 session.
PHCC LPN, LPN-RN, RN Selective Admissions (GPA + TEAS + Residency)
SPC LPN-RN, RN Selective Admissions (GPA + Residency)
Here's the website to pTEC LPN only Unsure...maybe waitlist?
I'm pretty familiar with the two I'm applying to, feel free to post or PM me if you have any questions on schools, program costs, the area in general, etc. I've been down here about 26 years.

Many of the vocational schools are taking applications for classes that are nearly a year out from right now, so make sure you double check that.
Vo-tech schools
Erwin Tech - Tampa, Florida
Ptech - St pete/clearwater, florida
Brewster - unsure
Private schools
Galen - LPN, then RN
Keiser - LPN and RN I think
Center for allied health nursing
there are a couple more cant find them right now
State Schools
PHCC - Pasco-Hernando Community College - New Port Richey
SPJC/SPC - St Pete Junior College - St Pete
USF - University of South Florida - Tampa
UT - University of Tampa - Tampa
SU - South University - Tampa
PSC - Polk State College - Lakeland
SCF - State College of Florida - Sarasota
PSC - Polk State College - Lakeland
HCC - Hillsbourgh Community College - Tampa
UCF - Unicersity of Central Florida - Orlando
FHCHS - Florida Hospital College - Orlando
VCC Valencia Community College - Orlando
That is pretty much all the state schools within 75 miles of Tampa. Most have LPN programs some do not and are 4 year schools. Like I said earlier, most of the vo-techs and other LPN schools, like Erwin, are working on classes that are a year or more out at this time. I did the research on these schools for getting into the RN programs and had the LPN as a backup only. If you interested I have a spread sheet made up of the state schools and their prereqs, just drop me a pm and I will email it to you.

Hello all. I am considering a move to Clearwater in the next year and will be starting my journey towards nursing. When I try to look for practical nursing and associate programs, it gets very confusing because I am unsure where anything is. If any of you can help, thanks in advance!!
