Has anyone applied or interested in this school?
asakos33-Congrats on such a dynamic HESI score!!! That will definetly put as a very competative canadate for the program (Well I think so)!! I will answer you questions to the best of my ability!
Yes- the calcuated GPA, that TCC uses is only the Pre-Req GPA (Psych, MAT1033 or MAC 1105, A&P1 w/Lab, A&P 2 w/Lab, Nutrition, Human Development, and ENC1101. They look to your MICRO grade and CHEM grade only if you and another canadite scored the same. Whoever, has it completed with the higher grade gets the spot.
As for the "Cut-off" at 138--I think that is what the lowest score was accepted, which means everyone with more than those points were accepted into the Program.
I recently went into the Nursing Dept. and spoke with a lady there about last Fall 2010- admissions. She told me that there was over 500 applications for 48 available seats. She said that on average the score cut-off was a 150*. Not to discourage though, becasue she did say, that usually there are more applicants in the Fall then in the Spring. So I am trying to be hopeful!
I am with you though, on the nail biting!!! I check my email every day, even though I know they won't make a decision for another month . I am soo extremley nervous. Right now I have a 3.7 and a 93.33 on the HESI so, my fingers are crossed!! Good Luck to you!!
Hi guys,
I just found this forum and I am really excited!! This waiting game has gotten me really nervous!! I am a recent graduate from UF with a degree in Microbiology, but decided I want to do nursing instead. I took the HESI and got 94.5 and I have a gpa of 3.66. My scores are almost exactly the average score that was accepted, so I am crossing my fingers that will get me in!! Good Luck to everyone on here. I hope we all will get in :)
Thank You Noel! Yes I did apply to TCC for spring 2011. I have not applied anywhere else. I just graduated from UF in May and was a little bit lost on what I wanted to do. I didn't hear about the TCC nursing program until 10 days before the deadline, so I had to do everything very last minute, including taking the HESI. I wish I had time to study for it, especially the vocab section and I might have done better. I am really hoping I get in, since I do not have any back up plans!
Don't worry, I can't stop obsessing and checking my email everyday either!!
Snowy43, I am in the same boat as you!! I am getting more and more impatient as well!! I called yesterday and they said, it would be 6-8 weeks from Sept. 20th before we would get an email!! So they told me to look for it at the end of October beginning to mid November!! They also said that they don't send letters, just emails! Such a long wait, it's making me a little paranoid! I keep looking at my TCC email, even though I know it won't be here for at least another 2 weeks
I don't think 150 is the cut off, I think it was the average accepted applicant for Fall 2010. But they also said that they had an unually large amount of applications for Fall. Usually they receive around 200, in Fall they recieved over 500! But I think 150 was the average, so there was fedinetly some people below that score and some people above it. Good Luck to you Caitsmi!! I am on pins and needles, wish they would just send the email already!! haha wishful thinking!

Hi, I just have a question.. Is the pre-req GPA for TCC that is calculated for nursing admission ONLY for those specific classes listed on the site? It doesn't include all the other classes you've taken that are non-nursing related? I hope so for my sake
I did well on the HESI and I hope it will carry me through. 95.37 overall and all sections in the 90s for the extra points. I almost got sick in the car on the way to take it - I was so nervous!
If the cut-off for last spring was 138 then does that mean everyone above that score got in?
Sorry, just really biting my nails over admission!! I hope we all get in!!
