Hello All prospective TCC Nursing Students;
Starting a new thread of those that have taken or about to take the HESI first or last (2nd time) for Spring 2012 Tallahassee Community College Nursing Program. I did and my final score is 141.63/160. Not bad but far from bravo too. The sad part for me is I found the reading conclusions difficult and after taking it the first time, actually scored even lower the 2nd time. All my other graded sections was 90. My overall HESI score was 88.83. But this was my second time taking it. At TCC that 2nd attempt is your last score forever and a day. My mission here today is to create a thread of insight and for those students that may have received valuable information to pass along here and just sharing in general. It is known that those who get a total score of 145 and over usually get into the program and below -145+140 may get alternative. Of course I am on the questionable cusp! and my fate into the program lies with those students scoring high 90s. I am very proud of you for setting the bar high-competitive and wish everyone here taking or have taken the HESI test and applied to Spring 2012 much luck. Yours truly, Lisa
Just wanted to let everyone know that I checked out scrubs pricing at Hellen's Uniforms today. The clerk (who is in the TCC nursing program) said it is going to cost approx. $35 per set of scrubs, which includes the embroidery. She recommended to get them ordered before December to have them ready for classes in Jan. She also recommended getting three sets instead of just two.
I will double check in the pre-class seminar (?) that we have to go to in Nov., but she said that a white long sleeved undershirt can take place of the (ugly) jacket. This is especially important to me, since I have several large tattoos that will be quite visible with the scrubs. And, speaking of tattoos, she said that it's okay to cover smaller ones with band-aids. :)
Great infor Bodhi1337. Thanks for the leg work. Did you already compare with G Willies pricing? I also agree that just wearing a white long sleeve undershirt should do the trick for cold weather and specifically for you needing to cover tattoos. But, if it gets real cold and while we go back and forth from the health center to TMH walking, the ugly jacket even with the white shirt may be necessary. Finally, we all should have ??? had the MMR during our childhood immunizations, therefore, if we lost our medical records or if our present doctor can't determine this was completed, the titer test will produce results of whether there is an antibody present (meaning we were inoculated or not). I wish to also suggest going to "Any Lab Test Now" located in TJMax shopping center. The pricing is better than those with insurance and exspecially for those without. There is also a $10.00 off coupon online for services over $49.00 and some shots/test have student discount pricing.
Hi all! I, too, was accepted for Spring 2012.
Glad to hear about the covering tattoos. I was a bit worried. I wonder if we'll have to cover them all the time or just for clinicals.
As for the MMR, if you have your records of all 3 shots you should be fine, otherwise the titer, as suggested, would be the way to go.
Anyone know where to get cheap flu shots?
Have you all done the BLS course yet? If not TPCA does it for under $50.
:)
There is a course that cost $57 through Southeaster School of Health Sciences. http://southeasternschool.org/courses/basic-life-support-for-healthcare-providers/ . I paid and enrolled for this Thursdays night class. I do know these courses fill up quick. Also, for reduced student rates for flu shots and any labs and with an online $10.00 off coupon visit "Any Lab Test Now" http://www.anylabtestnow.com/Tallahassee_FL/Med_College_Tests.aspx or call 850-216-2586. Good Luck
I doubt it. I used the read receipt option for my email. But, I have also been in touch with them by accident from my advisor needing clarification on my degree change. I did learn Dianne Douglas will be working on the responses next week to change our student profile code. It allows us to take charge by self enrollment into the required nursing program courses. The best way to guage this is, if you can't register for the course, then she hasn't got to your confirmation email to make the code change.
I was accepted for the spring (at TCC) also! Is this "Any Lab Now" place where you go for your drug/background check? or just for immunizations? trying to figure out what all I need to do... are y'all doing all of that before the info session on Nov. 9th? I got my BLS certification (for healthcare providers) earlier this year at Tallahassee Primary Care Associates - it was on a Sat. morning and was reasonably priced ($40-50?).... I would call them and see if they have any classes open.
