Swearing: hugely unprofessional, mildly irritating or a normal part of speech.
In small groups of people you know well, used sparingly, maybe. But around patients or colleagues/students you aren't close with, totally unprofessional.

what color uniforms does your school use?
We have Caribbean Blue scrubs, which is a teal color (I like it). Shoes, socks, and undershirts white. Do not understand the white shoes. Not the easiest to keep clean.

Tattoo??
I'm just starting nursing school, and I have quite a few tattoos. They aren't a problem as long as I keep them covered. I only have to cover them in uniform (lab, and clinicals), our lecture class is dress code free. I just wear a long sleeve white shirt under my uniform. I have one of the "moisture-wicking" ones and it's super comfortable, and the sleeves are tight enough that I don't push them up without thinking about it. I've heard from many people that nursing school is usually more strict about tattoos than some hospitals. You go to lots of different locations with clinicals, and the school will usually use the location with the most strict guidelines for their program dress code to avoid confusion. I've heard some hospitals want them covered, some don't mind them visible as long as they aren't offensive. I know removal is expensive and doesn't even always work fully, so definitely think about it long and hard before pursuing it. Good luck!

Tallahassee Community College Spring 2012 Nursing
Pretty sure Pharmacology doesn't start until the next eight weeks. They only show it on the schedule as starting for financial aid purposes.

Yup, I think they say it takes 2 weeks for the orders, and mine was a couple days after when they said they'd be back, but I got em. Thinking of ordering another set though.

I think I am going to do the pharm book as well... It isn't as big, but it's still quite heavy. It's worth the extra money to save the strain on my back.

I only did the big med-surg one so far, it was about $25 and I got it done into 9 sections with the comb binding. It's less expensive just to get it unbound with a 3 hole punch drilled into it. It just depends on what you want.

Hypothyroidism & Nursing School?
I've had hypothyroidism for over a decade and even with treatment still have issues with symptoms from time to time. Not nearly as bad as they would be without medication though. (I've been holding stable at 125 mcg for years now.) As for dry skin, I use aveeno intense relief for hands, which helps immensely. I also love skin so soft bath oil spray. Helps with moisture, but is light enough not to give me hives.

Is anyone doing any pre-studying? I'm not sure where to start. I hate that blackboard doesn't come up til the first day of class now.

I didn't get it unbound until I got it. I took it to target copy. The can unbind it for you and either put a 3 hole punch in it or rebind it into smaller packets. I got mine rebound with a "comb" bind (kinda like a half coil) into 9 packets so each one has 1-2 sections in it. :)
