Tallahassee Florida Pay & Best Place to Work
Just an update for this post because whenever I am looking for pay info I can't seem to find it. New nurses @ Capital Regional are paid $19.38 + $1.77 for after 7 and $3.50 for after 10. Not sure about weekends. Today HR told me that weekend differentials are only for "weekend plan" nurses but I am hoping she was wrong (she's kind of a space cadet.) Obviously, I haven't gotten my first pay check yet to figure it out, lol.

Can't Pass NCLEX, So What Jobs Can I Get With My Nursing Degree?
You are allowed to test for your LPN (NCLEX_PN) license after the first year of Nursing School. It is a different test and you do not have to know as much, you may do spectacularly. Though it does not pay as well as an RN, you will be working as a Nurse which will help with the next time you decide to take the NCLEX-RN.

Tallahassee Community College Fall 2013
Just a couple things from a current 4th semester student if you guys want to know. First many of your classes will remain TBA for the duration, ie, you will not know your schedule until the first day of class. Especially with labs and clinicals. It will be this way every semester and if you complain they will tell you tough luck. Expect to start clinicals fairly early (sometime week 2-4 probably), although there were some changes this year with fundamentals because the ordinary teacher is on maternity leave. You will have 4-8 hour clinical days in the first 8 weeks (unless they accepted the exchange for Simulator hours, we haven't been told whether this went through yet.) You will have classes two days a week for 3 hours and an 8 hour lab almost every week- probably Wednesdays, it will be broken up with a 1 hr lunch, you will have mornings-afternoons or afternoons-evenings and don't expect to be able to pick, they will assign groups. Never, will you be able to pick...just get used to that idea. Even if it seems like you are picking in registration, don't bet on it. Do not EVER slack in any way on tests/ results or immunizations. They are not rational about this. We had someone kicked out of our class because she was 1 day late on her PDD (TB test). If it says you have to have your flu shot before orientation, do it, no matter what anyone says, unless you can get it in writing (email).

Pregnant during last semester of nursing school, waiting to graduate or after a job?
It is contraindicated because pregnancy counts as immuo-suppressed status. Now each school will interpret this different ie, normal contact may be okay, but no HIV patients, no positive pressure rooms, no chicken pox, shingles, rubella, TB, etc even if you are immune positive. You should also not be lifting more than 50lbs (less in your last trimester) etc.

Tallahassee Community College Spring 2012 Nursing
Didn't they say something at orientation about getting an email the first week of January? I wrote down something about going to our Monday class on the 5th to get our schedules....

Tallahassee Community College Spring 2012 Nursing
It says, "Not Enrolled" when I attempt to register as well. My account also says that I can't register until Nov 14th. Those of you who have already registered, were you already taking classes at TCC?

TCC Spring 2012
I just recalculated my score (realized they don't count B+'s etc) and I have a 146.5...so I'm right there with you.

TCC Spring 2012
Did you retake the HESI or are you re-applying with the same score? Just curious because I thought from the other posts your current score would have gotten you in.

Good luck to you too. I read all through the posts from the fall semmester on here and I think the alternates had around 145-146 and some of them got spots.

TCC Spring 2012
Anyone waiting to hear from TCC for this coming spring? They said that it's 4-6 weeks from the application deadline to letters, so of course this thread is about 3-4 weeks early:)

Tallahassee Community College Spring 2012 Nursing
I just finished the HESII for today's deadline. I calculate my total score to be 149 so if your numbers are right I should be good to go. I am not 100% sure that I can take a spot if I get one though due to work/money issues. I wish that more scheduling information was available before actually being accepted into the program so that we could make a more informed decision.
