Hello All prospective TCC Nursing Students;

Starting a new thread of those that have taken or about to take the HESI first or last (2nd time) for Spring 2012 Tallahassee Community College Nursing Program. I did and my final score is 141.63/160. Not bad but far from bravo too. The sad part for me is I found the reading conclusions difficult and after taking it the first time, actually scored even lower the 2nd time. All my other graded sections was 90. My overall HESI score was 88.83. But this was my second time taking it. At TCC that 2nd attempt is your last score forever and a day. My mission here today is to create a thread of insight and for those students that may have received valuable information to pass along here and just sharing in general. It is known that those who get a total score of 145 and over usually get into the program and below -145+140 may get alternative. Of course I am on the questionable cusp! :eek: and my fate into the program lies with those students scoring high 90s. I am very proud of you for setting the bar high-competitive and wish everyone here taking or have taken the HESI test and applied to Spring 2012 much luck. Yours truly, Lisa

The pharmacology book is ISBN 9780131525993. Amazon has 13 in stock for $71, new. The other book is a workbook/resource guide, ISBN 9780131198289 and can also be found on Amazon for $30. Both books are authored by Michael Adams.

When will be able to buy ours books?

I'm pretty sure the bookstore doesn't get them in until closer to the start of the semester. Got mine online, still waiting on the pharm ones, but that's because the weren't on the list originally, so I ordered them later.

The med-surg book is crazy. 3 inches thick and about 13 lbs. Now I can see why they mentioned unbinding them.

Did they come with the cds and all that was mentioned in the list?

Yep. I got them new so all the cds and codes were included. Using the ISBN was the easiest way to find them.

And I went ahead and got the med/surg text unbound, and then rebound into smaller sections. I love it. I didn't want to just get holes punched because the pages are so thin, this feels a lot more sturdy.

Got my scrubs and my stethoscope, too. Trying to get it all done before the holidays.

where did u do everything for the books

Amazon has the lowest prices. I used ecampus for most of them because they had more payment options. I got the optional book on ebay.

How did you get you book unbound on amazon?

I didn't get it unbound until I got it. I took it to target copy. The can unbind it for you and either put a 3 hole punch in it or rebind it into smaller packets. I got mine rebound with a "comb" bind (kinda like a half coil) into 9 packets so each one has 1-2 sections in it.

Is anyone doing any pre-studying? I'm not sure where to start. I hate that blackboard doesn't come up til the first day of class now.

To the nurse worried about costly vaccines. Try getting a titer drawn rather than getting a vaccine. I had to get titers done and they weren't as expensive.
