Tallahassee Community College Fall 2013

Published

Hello everyone!! I haven't found a thread for this Fall's group of nursing applicants. So far, I've been denied to 5 universities and have applied to 5 more programs around the state, including TCC. Although I didn't want to settle for an ASN, TCC's nursing programs is one of the best in the state, and I'm really hoping I make the cut.

Some stats- I have a 3.4 pre-req GPA, finished all the courses and scored a total 94% on HESI. (Reading:94, Grammar:96, Math:100, Vocab:84) So I've calculated that I have 146/160 points for admission.

From the other forums, it seems like I've got a decent shot here for once.. this journey has been a little discouraging so far but I'm hanging in there.

I'd love to hear from some of you potential class-mates, and your stats or other info you may have heard about this program.

Best of luck everyone!!! We've all worked extremely hard to get to this point, and still have a lot of work before we reach the end!

Off the top of my head @kmcjon, I would say no. I think the only time co-req's are even taken into consideration is when applicants are tied for points. Like say 5 people have 145's, and they only have 3 spots left- the 3 with the co-req's or highest grades in the co-req's would get in.

That's my understanding.

That's my understanding too.

Still looking for that email...

:( those 3 classes take my gpa from 3.5 to 3.9. I wish they counted. so i guess that would give me a score of 149 then.

Keep your head up anyways! No need to worry before the decision gets here :) Take it from me.. I only have a 3.16 overall, 3.4 pre-req GPA. I've applied to 11 schools and already gotten 7 no's. Surely, someone will say yes eventually right!!? This process can be discouraging I know, but stay positive and keep your fingers crossed.

If only they gave extra points for the number of times you refreshed your email page each day!!! Then I'd be in for sure! lol

I checked back to the "Application Process" portion of the Healthcare Application Deadlines webpage and noticed they made an alteration to the very last sentence. What used to say "four to eight weeks" now says...

Notification, via TCC email, regarding admission decisions will be sent out approximately SIX WEEKS after the deadline date.

Today is the last weekday of the sixth week. While I'm extremely doubtful we'll receive anything today (I have a feeling they send notifications out early in the day so they can take phone calls from the bewildered masses all day long), I'm going to be LOSING IT this weekend in anticipation.

Just another thought, I appreciate how painless the TCC application process has been (minus the waiting). I mean, I was looking at the FAMU application and you have to submit a report of a full physical along with your application, not to mention an essay, academic and personal letters of rec, sealed transcripts, etc.

Chrystal - kudos to you for your perseverance and hard work. If becoming a nurse is what you want to do, you'll find a way to make it happen!

KMCjon - I'm with you!!!! One thing I like about Santa Fe's application process (I didn't apply there, but a friend did - and got in!) is they give you an extra point or two depending on the grade you made in core science and math pre-reqs, like A+P, micro. I wish the more difficult or competitive classes with higher failure rates counted more than say....psychology or even freshman english comp. The boost from one class alone isn't that significant but from several classes it's enough to make a noticeable difference in your final score. They also will give you additional points if you've logged ~150 hours of community service in the healthcare realm and a few more if you have a basic CNA certification or served in the military.

Going to make a blueberry pie now and eat my anxiety.

Check your EMAILS!!!!!!! the decisions are in!! I made it!!!!!!!!

I've never been so excited!!! Good luck everyone!

Me too! So relieved. Forget the pie, I'm having cocktails.

Yay, I got in. I am so excited. :)

I'm in too! Congrats to all :)

Anyone know when we can register for classes? Almost everything has tba for the time :/

when you try to register, is it telling you that you haven't been accepted to the program yet?

Not sure, didn't want to try with out any times. It's that what it said for you?
