What do you mean by "given the run around" by the people at Southeastern? That's where I was planning on taking the class, too.

I didn't register for 1020L, 1022L, or 1214L yet because the class times were listed as TBA. I guess I'll keep checking back. Additionally, I read the instructions more closely and you can submit a varicella titer OR a record of varicella immunization. Simply having chicken pox recorded in your medical records isn't sufficient proof. Does anyone know where we can find reviews of instructors? I only saw one on ratemyprofessor.com.

Tallahassee Community College Fall 2013
I wrote an email and they said that after June 28th those who accepted their position in the Fall 2013 class will have their admission status changed and they should be able to register that day or very soon after. I'm afraid I don't know about the alternates. Still have to have my physical, fingerprinting, and BLS class. I had the chicken pox around 15 years ago. How difficult would it be to retrieve those records from my former pediatrician? I imagine they've been archived by now. I'd prefer not to pay extra for the blood titers (I'm stingy about weird things and I'd prefer not to give more blood than absolutely necessary- argument for digitizing health records?). I'm trying to do as much as possible before the orientation bc I'll be out of town for most of July and August until school starts. What do you know about uniforms? What leeway are we given?

I checked back to the "Application Process" portion of the Healthcare Application Deadlines webpage and noticed they made an alteration to the very last sentence. What used to say "four to eight weeks" now says... Notification, via TCC email, regarding admission decisions will be sent out approximately SIX WEEKS after the deadline date. Today is the last weekday of the sixth week. While I'm extremely doubtful we'll receive anything today (I have a feeling they send notifications out early in the day so they can take phone calls from the bewildered masses all day long), I'm going to be LOSING IT this weekend in anticipation. Just another thought, I appreciate how painless the TCC application process has been (minus the waiting). I mean, I was looking at the FAMU application and you have to submit a report of a full physical along with your application, not to mention an essay, academic and personal letters of rec, sealed transcripts, etc. Chrystal - kudos to you for your perseverance and hard work. If becoming a nurse is what you want to do, you'll find a way to make it happen! KMCjon - I'm with you!!!! One thing I like about Santa Fe's application process (I didn't apply there, but a friend did - and got in!) is they give you an extra point or two depending on the grade you made in core science and math pre-reqs, like A+P, micro. I wish the more difficult or competitive classes with higher failure rates counted more than say....psychology or even freshman english comp. The boost from one class alone isn't that significant but from several classes it's enough to make a noticeable difference in your final score. They also will give you additional points if you've logged ~150 hours of community service in the healthcare realm and a few more if you have a basic CNA certification or served in the military. Going to make a blueberry pie now and eat my anxiety.

I'm with you. Feeling restless. Contributor Maddux spoke with the director last week. Due to the large number of applicants (340) it will take a little longer than the more typical month and we will probably be contacted in about two weeks. But.......if you wanted to call, I think that's a great idea. At least you'll feel like you're doing something. Sande8312, what sort of scores do you have? Just curious!

Thanks for looking into it, Maddux. This is really good to know. At least for the next week or two I won't be checking my email like a maniac. Did she mention anything else when you spoke with her?

Tallahassee Community College Fall 2013
I've been able to relax this weekend, figuring they probably wouldn't send the email out. This coming week will be another story though. Thursday, June 6th, will mark 4 weeks from our application date and based other posts I've read it seems everyone is notified one month from when the application is due. I fear I'm going to be pressing refresh on my browser every 2 minutes until it shows up in my inbox.

I've gone back and my HESI score was 93.5 and my GPA still 3.61 bringing my quality points to 147.6.

Tallahassee Community College Fall 2013
Hey Chrystal and Co.! I'm a very numbers oriented individual so here's my stats: GPA 3.61 (cursing the C I made in psychology 10 years ago), HESI ave. 93.8, points 146, I think (going to recalculate in a sec.) I have also completed humanties, as well as microbiology and the lab. Fall 2012 students accepted to the nursing program averaged the following scores: GPA - 3.64 , HESI - 93.88, quality points - 146.42. For spring 2013 I saw someone with 138 quality points was accepted although she was initially an alternate. ** gleaned from other allnurses boards Based on the average scores of those accepted into the program the past few semesters, I think I would have an ok shot at admittance, but it's not good enough to allow me to relax. I also worry about a potential "monkey wrench"... In the past FSU has had 40 something seats per semester in their accelerated BSN program. However, the past spring 2013, they did not have an accelerated class. Does that mean that there are 40 or 50 additional students that would have been enrolled at FSU during spring that will still be floating around seeking acceptance for a Fall 2013 program? Will they be fighting for seats in another nursing program at TCC? Will these potentially displaced students affect my acceptance in the program or not? *I heard that the intention behind this was to cycle graduates so that newly graduated BSNs could immediately enroll in the Master's program at FSU (as opposed to waiting another semester or two and moving/getting a job elsewhere/going to school elsewhere).
